....of protein supplement is good for you.

i havent taken any in a week so im going to drink double the usual which is three scoops a day for the week i was off it.

it should workout at 120g of protein a day aswell as my food intake and milk is this ok?

I don't really understand your question, but you should have at least 1g per lb of bodyweight. 1-2g per pound would be better.

I agree with Clean.. Personally I use the rule 1.5g per lb of LBM, but somewhere between 1-2g per lb of bodyweight is a pretty good rule of thumb.

if you are on a solid diet then 120 grams supplemented in shake form should be HIGHLY adequate... chances are you're using whey though, in which case you only are going to need 1-2 shakes/day. Whey is optimal for post training or maybe first thing in the morning when you want a high absorbtion rate... elsewise get a blend with majority caseign protein... or you can just eat lots of dead animals... thats what I do...

The best times to take whey are for breakfast, pre and post-workout. Granted real food is better, but in terms of supps, those are some options ;)

With regards to protein supplementation...

I still haven't figured out why if we now have protein powder that has a "complete" amino acid profile.. and types of protein powder and/or things we can add to the protein powder to make it digest as slowly as solid foods.. why....

why does everyone still say "yeah but real food is better"

there's got to be a reason other than "nature made the body to run on mother earthly food".. right?

There's a lot of good reasons why real food is better. 1st, real food has a much higher thermic effect. This means it requires more energy to digest and process real food than liquids, which in turn means more calories expended on real food (however insignificant it may be).

2nd, real food, and I'm talking clean foods, usually have better vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in them. No need to explain that.

3rd, at least personally, real food is MUCH more filling. I, however, throw in psyllium husk into all of my shakes to help with feelings of fullness.

Real food is sometimes cheaper. This is debatable, especially depending on choice in protein sources. Also, real food has more variety than just a protein shake. Sure, you can throw crap in your protein shake, but cooking something to your liking is a little different. I don't know if that came out right, but you know what I mean.

I'm sure there are more reasons why real food is better, but those are some of the biggest reasons why I prefer real food.

I'm with you on this one.. I still think that this mentality is a hold-over from years past, when complete protein supplementation wasn't as prevalent..

the question im asking is "is it ok to drink double the recomended dailly consumption of whey protein, as it says on the label"?

is there any harm in it

Actually, "supplements" should only "supplement" your diet

not replace real food

Supplements are usually more convenient and sometimes cheaper (it is easier and cheaper to take one pill than to eat a whole salmon)
