How long would it take to raise your GPA by 0.8?

Assuming you have 2 more years left

((2.9 * 5) + 2* x) / 7 = 3.1

x = 3.6

You would have to have an average GPA of 3.6 / year to get to 3.1 GPA after 2 years.

You will get to 3.1 GPA if...

((2.9 * 5) + x) / 6 = 3.1
x = ~ 4.0

If you have a 4.0 GPA durring the following year, your total GPA will be 3.1

The maximum points that your GPA can be is (assuming you have 4.0 GPA for 2 years) is...

(2.9 * 5 + 2 * 4) / 7 = 3.21

Someone check me if this is right. Its 3 AM in the morning.

Thanks 2Thick and Revex...

It sure looks like I'm going to have my work cut out for me. Surely experience counts for something when you are trying to get into a masters program...especially in nursing...when experience in invaluable. Right?!?!?!? LOL

Nightfly, experience is definetely a plus. Unfortunately many of your competitors will also have extensive experience. Do the best you can do, you have no choice.

Crap. I can't think about this now! I have to keep my head up high! I know that really good references hold a great deal of weight as well in my profession.

This makes me wish I hadn't screwed around when I was a freshmen/sophomore in college.

When you're near 3.0, with over 100 credit hours it is almost impossible to raise your GPA; going down is easy. Remember, even a B will hurt your average at that point....

In your case, you will NEVER have a 3.7.

Even if you double the number of credit hours you currently have and try to graduate with over 200+ hours with the next 100 hours at a 4.0; your GPA will just go up to 3.45. You would need 300 more hours of 4.0 to get to a 3.7, and for every B you get during that time; you'll need to take 3 more classes with an A....

Of course, several years of 4.0's will get you places anyway. Not sure if you can retake classes you got lower grades in or petition to have a couple of semesters stricken from your record to help too though.
