HELP!!! Couldn't get started today.

Last week, I started up with my old routine afer not lifting for 8 weeks during football season. I completed each set at about 90% of where I left off, hoping to get back up there whithin the month. But today, as I began to start my chest workout for the second time since my break, I even do near what I got last week... my pecs were so tight after a whole week of rest. What gives. Anyway, after trying three different exercises and failing, I left the weight area in frustration, did my cardio and went home. The question is, should I have done this or done a half assed workout? Should I go back in a couple days and try again, or just forget about it this week? Has anyone else experienced this "second week syndrome"?

You much worry.

You had an off day bro. Probably your body's just readjusting to the new workout. You can start worrying when you can't lift shit week after week.

IMO, you did the right thing. Every once in a while I get to the gym and I'm just not feeling it. I usually know it right away and just head home. Mind you, this doesn't happen real often, couple times a year maybe. But when it does, I head home. The gym isn't going anywhere; it'll be there tomorrow.

Don't let one off day fuck up your drive. Get your candy ass back in the gym tomorrow. You'll do fine.

you won't be 100% every time you hit the gym,i would not worry about it unless every workout ended that way........stay positive and get it next time..........;)

Honestly, after you r eight weeks of not working out I wouldn't have started back into working out using 90% of where you left off. I would have taken it slower, maybe 2 or 3 sets of each exercise and doing 10-12 reps just to get your body used to working out again. With each subsequent workout raise the weight, and you still would have been at where you left off in a month or so. As for the sore feeling, relate to above. Your body just wasn't ready to lift that much weight that early, but I wouldn't worry if you had an off day, happens to everybody, just wait until your next workout, I wouldn't do it again later this week. Also IMO even if I feel i'm going to have a crap workout i'll still complete it, but i'll use less sets and lower weight.
