Glucosamine

Doing a fitness contest coming up soon, was wondering if Glucosamine would mess me up anywhere? Does it cause any kind of fluid retention or anything? Joints are just killing me from tumbling every single day and i'm not young any more :) Was wondering if I could take it, any thoughts? :)

Thanks! :)

Use it all the time. There's a product made by Peak Performance called Arthrazine GS. Contains glucosamine, chrondroitin, chicken collagen Type II and MSM. Best product I've used to date. Knees used to bother me after heavy squats, now nothing. If I forget to take the stuff for a few weeks, problems come back, if I go back to using it, problems resolve in a couple weeks.

Excellent! what dosage and dosage schedule should a 125lb female that has a contest in roughly 5 weeks and is dying of joint pain take? :)

Thanks again sweety :)

I have heard Diabetics need to be careful with this because it spikes insulin or something? Does anyone know if this effects blood sugar>?

Normal dosing is about 1500 mg of glucosamine per day, and yes I remember reading something about glucosamine and glucose metabolism, but I can't remember what it was right now.

Just did a Medline search for glucosamine sulfate. 62 citations, nothing related to adverse glucose metabolism problems. Few sides reported, similar effectiveness to NSAIDs but less sides for long-term use.

I'm not sure about, nor would I recommend mixing the two. Do a Medline search, I think there are a couple of review articles that detail the mechanisms of action of glucosamine.

I used to just take Daypro on heavy leg days along with the TwinLab glucosamine product (daily), but still had problems. When I switched to the Peak Performance product with MSM and Chicken Collagen, I no longer needed the NSAID on heavy leg days.

Quite frankly, Deca and glucosamine would solve joint problems without affecting strength (vs winny) and the need for NSAIDs that over time could lead to renal problems especially with a high protein diet.
