My dad was about 220 all throughout highschool/college and about 270 now, his brothers, fathers and grandfathers were alll the same way... pretty big guys. My mom was about 120's in hs and about 150 now but also had a big father and brothers.

I have my dads looks, height and everything, but one thing we never matched up on is weight. I weigh about 185 now in my mid 20's and have the hardest time gaining and keeping weight since HS.

Why did I get shafted like this? Could it be because of my nutrition growing up has changed my brain's body weight calculator and maybe even permenantely changed family genetics forever?

My father (235 ex j00ser) and mother (120lbs) both have the same build as yours and i'm built like you. I was 140/150lbs out of highschool soaking wet. Not untill I was around 25/26 did I start to gain weight and it was mostly from eatting shitty. My normal weight when I was 30 was 165 which was when I started to lift and train again. I put on 20lbs through lifting on a ok diet, lots of sups and a shit load of gainers. But now i'm 34, my diet is in check, my training is solid and my weight is up. I'm 205lbs 6'1 and 10% but have to really work to maintain that weight. My diet is pretty simple, but very lean. Keep eating you will grow bro.

Good thing about being ecto is I do NO cardio and still can maintain very low body fat with just my current diet. If I do any cardio I lose weight back down to my triathlon weight which is 170lbs and it's impossible to put on weight for months after cardio training. So now I skip cardio and just watch what I eat which is usually alot of food, but I still need more to keep growing.

learning how to eat properly is hardest/most rewarding thing you can do in bodybuilding - its comes b4 training and aas

What he said X 100!!

Whether you are talking gaining mass or maintaining it/keeping bf in check - what you eat/drink is first, second and third... training is a distant 4th and everything else is just the cherry atop the icing atop the cake.

Funny cause for a few years I thought I had the best diet and was eating all the right foods. Holy crap was I wrong! Not till my last cycle I felt I finally figured it out. Amazing what you can learn on the internet. :)

You may have to play around with macro ratios. It helps to keep a record of what you're eating. That way you can actually SEE what it is and calculate the cals and macros. You'll probably see that what you THOUGHT was "a ton of food" really wasn't.

If you do this you can start adding cals, adding in more protein here, more fat there, etc. You already know what's NOT working...time to find out what will work! It's a lot harder for some...especially for serious ecto's.

I wish I had a fast metabolism. I've been running my ass off for two months, 3-4 miles a day 5x a week, only to drop 13 pounds :(
