First day on new diet- Big flop

Thanks Nikkita and spatts!
You are right, spatts, doing something is better than stressing over the details. Sometimes I can become a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this. I'll try to come up with a better plan this time.
Thanks for all your help.
:)

Okay- How's this?
It's kinda tricky coming up with something to fit in those ratios.
This isnt perfect but perhaps it's getting better?

1- 1/4 cup oatmeal (raw measure)
6 egg whites
1 scoop protein powder

2- 1 cup cottage cheese
1 cup sweet potato
1 tbsp Udo's oil

3- 4oz chicken breast
3 boiled egg whites
1 cup brocolli

4- 6 oz tuna on salad
with 1/2 cup tomatoes
and 1/2 up cucumbers

5- 3oz top round
1 cup green beans

6- double protein shake

1686 calories
232 grams of protien
105 grams of carbs
35 grams of fat

Protein 58%
carbs 23%
fat 20%

What modifications should I make?

I wouldn't worry about measuring broccoli and green beans. Eat those suckers up. My only concern is how fast do you fall asleep after that protein shake at night? I can't imagine working out, drinking a shake and then zonking out. I'm thinking you might want some sort of protein source right before bed, unless you really do zonk out.

Well, I was kinda counting on getting up realy and doing cardio everyday to zonk me out at night.
Why would a protein shake affect that?

Let's say you workout from 7-8pm. Have a shake right when you get home at 8:30pm. Then you don't fall asleep until 11 or so at night. By the time you go to bed you've probably used all the nutrients. Especially with whey and your body needs those while you sleep so you can grow.

If you get home at 8:30 and are asleep by like 9:15 I guess that'd be better, but whey is used so fast after a workout. So it's basically your post-workout/pre-bed meal.

And also whey isn't the best pre-bed meal in the first place, so combine that with the fact you are using it all up after your workout. I'd look into getting a nighttime protein or having some meat right before bed and still have that post workout whey shake.

Hmmm..... I tried putting something after the protein shake (using fitday) and that puts me too much over calories. If only I could workout earlier- but I cant.

No offense, but growing at night is IMPORTANT! Eat, rest, grow! Subtract an ounce of meat here and there from earlier in the day and tack it onto the end. It's doable.

A lot of people drink a shake after they lift, then an hour later have a meal, because they've already used it up! What you're doing is using it all up and starving your body all night, but your body needs that to build muscle. More muscle, more metabolism, more fat burning.

I know it may seems like I'm worrying about this too much. But I do better if I have something exact to go by. I like it written out so I know exactly what to expect each day. If I dont, well that's when I mess up and end up going out to eat or take too many cheat days.

Is this better?

1-1/2 cup oatmeal
6 egg whites

2- 1 cup cottage cheese
1 cup sweet potato

3- 4oz chicken
1/2 cup brown rice
1 cup brocolli

4- 6oz tuna on salad

5- 3oz top round
1 cup green beans
salad

post workout shake- 1 scoop whey

6- 4oz chicken breast
1/2 tbsp udo's oil

1706 cals
protein- 215 grams
carbs 137
fat 28

54/30/16

Once I get this all down, I'm gonna try the carb cycling.

I don't mind exact at all! I just didn't want you to think I was just suggesting it for fun. That looks good to me. :)

Just don't give up and give it a good 8-12 weeks. Take pictures and remember how your pants feel! And if your weird like me constantly flex, even when driving. I love watching for small changes.
