Brief rundown-
36 yrs old. Training 17 yrs. 6'1" 255lbs. 13-15% bf.
I slipped my L1 and L2 in the gym just over 2 years ago. I couldn't walk for a week and it took a good year before I could do any legitimate weight on deads and squats. In fact anything that put direct compression/strain on my lower back, would fuck me up for days.
Eventually I got up to sets of 315 for 8-12 on these lifts, but then BAM. out for days.
Can't do bent over BB rows very heavy, but t-bar doesn't bother as much?
I am starting to think I may never be able to do these and a few other lifts with any substantial weight again.
My leg day now consists of heavy leg presses, extentions, curls, and calf raises. I feel i get a good workout, but really miss deads and squats.
My doctor says there is no treatment for the degenerative tissue and it will just get worse over time, and I just need to adjust accordingly. I hate to think of a fusion down the road, or some other limiting surgery.
Is there any hope for me doing these exercises again?
was thinking about trying an inversion table, but there are so many out there and a wide range of prices.
Any advice/suggestions?
