Cleansing Diets

diet question, any help is appreciated....

Typically I follow a fairly strict Low Carb diet regardless, but lately I've tried a sort of homemade cleansing diet for a few days out of the week....

basically liquids all day.....more water than ususal and a few low carb shakes.....I thought I would be really weak on it, but it has the opposite effect and I feel energized......only done it a few time, but thinking about making this a regular thing maybe once or twice a week.....

is this safe? or is taking in so few calories gonna hurt me in the long run?

when i joined ef i was 135 and I'm currently 128

my goal is 110, but not sure how that is going to work as i try and gain more lbm

thanks for your input! :)

Your body HAS to have a certain amount of nutrients/calories everyday. Every day that you do not meet those requirements will affect you in a way that can not be positive.

You look bangin' already, dont loose the weight!!!!

but depending on how low of calories you go, you might be starving yourself, and only end up loosing lbm!

what is the purpose of these so-called cleansing days?

drinking protein shakes is not cleansing your system in any way.

all you are doing is going very low cal for a few days a week and this will have negative effects in the long run. plus this is not something that you can sustain as part of a healthy lifestyle.

well, i guess it's not so much of a cleansing diet, I just noticed that by taking a few days of liquid only, I felt "cleansed" so to speak...and more energized, not so full etc....maybe it was just all the extra water, which I suppose I could incorporate w/a more healthy diet?

drinking all that water probably encouraged your body to hold less water (aka the "cleansed" feeling) less bloated, etc.

it was most likely all the extra water and your body using up all the stored glycogen, since you were consuming so little calories.

i would really advise against this. you only have 18 pounds to lose, and those last pounds are always the hardest. doing such drastic diets now will only backfire on you later on. take it slowly. i know this requires patience, but in the end your results will be better. trust me :)
