casein Vs whey

Yeah you will see changes if you maintain anabolism versus catabolism. It's not restricted to cassein though, you can eat any source of protein and maintain anabolism as long as you eat frequently enough. Cassein is good b/c it stays much longer in the system, which keeps will try to keep you anabolic longer. Good for gains. But like i said you can eat real food and get same effects, that's good to know for all the bros out here who are trying to make ends meet.

Thats a huge difference (assuming the study was done somewhat properly). By the way, do you have the source of this information? I'd be pretty interested in reading through the details of how it was performed.

Check Medline. Or search the MFW newsgroup. Lyle McDonald(Yes, I mention him every other post but I think he's the best source of no-bullshit info for nutrition out there.) has written a fair bit about this subject/study. He also has a great couple of articles on his website--though not much else.

very interesting stuff, i thought the guy was an idiot. He obviously knows his stuff. That's a great read, i couldn't finish but when i have time i gotta sit down and read it carefully.
 
I know this is an old post but I had to respond. The study used HYDROLIZED CASEIN not just plain casein. Hydrolized casein is a fast digesting protein. Calcuim caseinate, etc. are slow acting. Why does everyone think because they used hydro casein will be the same as regular casein. Then everyon says slow digesting is better because of the study. Try adding some hydro casein to you mixes. In small amounts. I have another question about whey. The article by Lyle said whey peaked about an hour after ingestion and then started coming down at about 4 hours. The subjects in the test fasted as well which changes the speed at which protein is digested. Where does everyone come up with whey digesting in 15 or 20 minutes. What studies? Between meals whey should digest at a slow enough rate especially if you still have any undigested food left too.

Answer: Powdered milk

sure, but powdered milk is rich in lactose :mad:
