big legs are the key to a bigger upper body, u want them?

heavy exercises

like deads and squats will make your body release more growth hormones, which will make it easier to grow the rest of your body. Yes there are big upperbody/small lowerbody types everywhere, but how many do you see with freaky upperbodies and shitty lower bodies?

BTW, I've had many chics compliment me on my calves and say that it is attractive, just not as influencing as the upper body.

Yea, I dont think I have ever had a girl comment on my quad seperation...most just say the stretch marks on my legs are gross. I always wear shorts though and no one ever says I am not symmetrical so I am happy. I train legs twice a week and I couldnt imagine neglecting them. As for it helping upper body I agree that you can get big up top without legs but just as everyone said, its much harder. Not only does a big upper body put more pressure on your legs(you can develope knee problems if you look like a flamingo), but I know my body also strives to be symmetrical. If I dont train my biceps(didnt for a couple months) my tri's barely grew. I would say even if you dont want to at least do some sort of leg work, even a few machines is better than nothing.

Welcome to Iowa. Welcome to New Jersey. Welcome to any state in the union. Most people don't train legs. And if they do It's your prototypical leg extention and leg curl routing. Squatiing and deadlifting are brutal. There is absolutely no way around that and for that very reason most people don't do them. Most people don't want to endure that kind of pain. Then again; most people in the gym aren't all that serious about being in the gym in the first place. Let's face it. Legs are what seperates the men from the boys. If you've got the stones in your sack to put up with deads and squats then you know damn well that you're dedicated to your training and that's the real reason why guys who put forth the effort to squat are also rewarded with growth in other body parts. Squating certainly has an all encompassing effect as the weight is suspended over the entire body which requires a great deal of musculature to be activated and subsequent hormanal, nueromuscular, and hypertraophic responses to take place in more muscles than just those of the legs.

Dammit it didn't take me long to figure out that the difference between the men and the "little girls" in the gym is noted by the ones who workout lower body just as hard as upper body. All my stick-skinny pussy friends go into the gym 3 times a week and don't touch their legs at all and it pisses me off. I don't think they could squat 100 pounds.

This is true but I don't think it totally applies to Jersey, I do see a lot of geeks training upperbody 2x a week and skipping legs al together. I train in NY once in a whiile and it is the same thing, dude its everywhere...its rampid!!!

I love training quads hams and calves, and I do think it is true that you get better size in your upper body if you train the lower as well. I herd that deadlifts are key for overall size, I just cannot do them because I can't move for a day afterwards...

Word brother!!!!! I love the pain of deadlifts, squats (paticulary hack squats).

JUST SAY NO TO UBB'S (upper body-builders)

do sprits, dont jog.

are you saying that sprints develop big musclular legs? i can think of many things that develop legs better than that. and incase anyone was wondering...develop is my word for the day. just hope i spelt it right.

Lower body looks are all about the calves.

With the knee length shorts men wear today you usually dont even see much quads/hams anways....

Its all about the calves
