would u say if u cant do more weight on a specific lift over a span of 3 workouts of the same bodypart, are you overtraining. like lets say you do chest monday and do it again friday then again tuesday. shouldnt u be able to do atleast 2-5 more pounds on tuesday?? if not your overtraining. im just wondering on what your opinons are on this. i seem to be doing fine with my routine, but if i encounter a problem where i cant go up i would think im overtraining? i think its always better to train too little than to train to much. always do less is what im begining to realize more and more

You're not necessarily overtraining. Maybe just stale. When I'm about to overtrain, I know it. I can actually feel it coming and have to take a few days rest otherwise I get sick or fall into a rut.

Remember we're battling adaptation. Mix it up a little bro. Change your routine completely. Everytime I think I'm getting a little stale, I will change this a lot. I'l even stop doing something for a while.

Also, you're doin chest Monday, friday, then Tuesday? Thats way too often in my opinion bro. Do it less frequently and things will change. This will pass. Its never a perfectly straight journey, its always bumpy.

I agree with Thaibox, I grow best when I train each bodypart 1x per week, it really does sound like you are training your chest too often

well i dont train like most im experimenting with hit. im only doing 1 set per bodypart....but im making slight progress right now. i think u missed my point i was saying if u dont progress from a few workouts then my guess is that your overtraining. i mean shouldnt you progress? thaibox you say if u dont progress it may not be that your overtraining but just stale right? it seems to me if u dont progress everytime its just a wasted workout if your still at the same level. would u suggest if i dont make progress from a workout....i should take a week off, this is what im thinking would be a good idea.

It depends. A good guide to when your not super compensating is if one than 2 exercises are not progressing.

It's not that easy to progress in poundages in a week's time only unless you have really small weight increases. Weight progression is also not linear, otherwise you would have insane lifts after only a year or so.

But, see if you can't squeeze out a few reps more as a form of progression.

Unless you're on gear I would think your body would need more time to adapt to heavier poundages.

peace

it might not be over training. Is your form getting better and are you increasing reps all of these is a different form ofd progress. Overtraining is usually more than one lift. we each have diferent plateau's in our own body so you can't expect progress to be constant...l.
