In my never ending quest to develop new grip toys, I bought two pieces of 3.75" steel pipe from my buddy at the steel yard.
Yesterday was my test run with them. I slid them over a barbell and just did timed static holds with them. I worked my way up to 185 and it was a truely masochistic experience. I know it doesn't sound like much weight, but damn it hurt.
After one more day of statics, I'm going to start doing other lifts with them.
I also bought some 2.5 inchers and put them over the ends of two olympic bars. I lifted them up together for statics with a few plates. That was pretty fun also, but the 3.75's were insane. I think that's as thick as I can realistically go. I suppose I should try a 4 or 4.25 just to see.
Anybody ever tried 4" or above?
