Hey
about a month ago my wrist starting hurting... but i kept doing weights.. it got worse and worse and about 2 weeks later i decided to stop and let it rest, also it was xmas/newyears so it was time for a like a 1 to 2 week break anyway.
yesterday i went back to the gym and i couldnt do hardly anything.. my wrist was just hurting sooo bad whenever i tried a decent weight..
do you think i should just start doing lighter weights until it gets better? or stop completely?
i havnt been to the drs yet.. maybe i should
it does only hurt when i lift something, no other time
feedback would be appreciated

does it hurt if you try to rotate your hands? try moving your wrist around, and if at some point, you feel pain, you should see a doctor. could be a small fracture (but I wouldn't know because I have never broken any of my bones and I don't have an x-ray machine...)

Doc

Get it checked out man. If it's an injury or not, time will heal it. By going to a doctor you'll find out if it's something serious and you'll have an estimate on how many weeks you should take off from training. I remember when I messed up my left wrist while curling. Took me a long time to start training without it hurting. All I did was take a break and once a week I'd do light sets of wrist curls and I performed some wrist rotations throughout the day. My injury was caused from having a weak wrist. My grip wasn't improving as fast as my biceps were. Got to take the time to condition every body part.

went to the doctors and its a strained wrist...
he said i should stop doing weights until it heals properly :(

get some rest and get some wrist wraps- I like the brown ace bandage, havent lifted without em in at least 2 yrs...

agree? or should i get some of those wrist wraps and try with those

Strained wrist? What part of the wrist? He probably wasn't an orthopod. Anyway, do pain free range of motion exercises daily and if you can lift using straps without pain then go ahead. Simply put, if it hurts, stop whatever you're doing then come back the next day and try it again but lighter.
