take a look at how many michaels there are in each city with a killing...

It isn't the Michaels, it is the amount of illumination and traffic that is desireable in these areas. Light for shooting, traffic for confusion to the local police and citizenry.

Michaels is just another store. If he had taken the first shot at a Texaco, would you be saying that is connected to all Texaco gas stations? Hardly.
