whats the chances of a 6' 150# distance runner these last 25 years to pack on 20 pounds of pure muscle an lok like a cut smaller version of frank zane? thats what my friend is asking me.. i say no way even though his workout dicipling is tremendous. reason... his bone structure is very slight. super small wrists and bones.. drinking a gallon of milk a day is a waste as thats going right to his gut. he'll eat healthy like he's done these past 35 years and recover, but i cant see doing deads and squats and all the other lifts making, or transforming his body. he's skinny with the very small bone structure..
5 sets of 5?? sets of 12.. whatever, he'll get stronger but no bigger. only way he'll get bigger is eat a ton, then it'll go to his gut like all the other arnold wanna be's at the gym..big fat face and a big gut with 1/8 " gains everywhere else.
i say stick to running.... he's very good but burnt out and wants a change . he's been talking this new look for sometime now.
i say its a waste. no genetics..
opinions?

depends how much effort he can put into diet training and consistency. drinking a gallon of milk a day is not a waist lol. Maybe for his size and structure he wont have the physique and shape of frank zane, but sure he can pack on alot more muscle and gain strength and make his frame look pleasing.

dont be so critical of him, try and be supportive and help him achieve his goals

Sorry but a gallon a day of milk is calories that maybe a hard gainer could use to a degree but there are much better options. As for everything else, who knows. I think wanting a former Mr. O's build is a nice idea but still tough to achieve.

I have super small wrists and ankles and have still gained a lot from where I used to be. Tell him to go for it! Don't let genetics hold you back.
