What do you all think of this routine ...

Mon - Chest , Tri's
Tue - One Hour of Tread mill, and then abs
Wed - Legs, and Shoulders
Thurs - One Hour of Treadmill and Abs
Fri - Back and Bis
Sat - Rest
Sun - Rest

Most likely on week-ends i do the bike trail for 15 ~ 20 miles, so really they would be cardio days.

Also i have a question about Squats? Besides the fact that i have come to realize i suck at them, how do you improve your squat weight. I can barly do 245 for 4 reps on my third set. I had a bad back last year but i do not feel that being my problem. I mean i can bench more than that. Any tips would be helpful, due to the fact that i am getting very irritated with myself.

Thanks all

FatGuy

You could switch places with bi´s and tri´s.
You can easily overtrain your tri´s when you mix it with chest routines.

Whatsup bro... Lets see here. I personally dont like to train anything but legs on leg day but if you do then go for all the way. I think I just get totally exausted from heavy squats and SLDL and am just too beat to try and train another bodypart. You might want to consider the following 4-Day split which has always worked real well for me...

1- Chest, Biceps
2- Back, Traps, Abs
3- REST (AM cardio)
4- Quads, Hamstrings, Calves
5- Shoulders, Triceps
6- REST (AM cardio)
7- REST (AM cardio)

This bodypart split always seemed to work really well giving proper recuperation and giving you the weekends to recover. I just never liked to train chest with triceps because I could never hit my triceps with enough weight because they were always flamed from my heavy chest exercises. Same with back and bis. I dont know though bro good luck. :D:D

I agree with MS. I think your schedule is solid, but I'd do only legs on leg day. And the only way to improve on squats is to KEEP SQUATTING! You gotta keep at it and you will make gains, it's like anything else.

One more peice of unsolicited advice. I'll assume from your name that you're trying to lose weight and get in shape. I've got a special affinity for fat guys because I used to be one, 275lbs of jello.

The one thing I can tell you is not to overthink your workouts. I used to tell people that half the battle was getting my fat ass to the gym every week. And that's infinitely more important than worrying about how many squats you can do or which grip to use on a bent row. I know too many people who have quit lifting because they were overloading on information.

Like my Mom says, "it ain't rocket surgery." Get in there and do it! Focus on your goal and you will gain knowledge about weightlifting as you go along, like most of us did. Start out with the simple stuff, curls, bench, leg press etc. It'll change your life man. I wish you luck.

Well thanks for the replys so far fellas, I appriciate it. As far as being a fat guy, yes you could say i was a fat guy and maybe still am. I started out at 290lbs at 5 foot 10 inches. I am now at 265, and losing on a weekly basis. I feel my knowledge for the gym is really pretty good overall. I started back in may just doing machine workouts and lots of cardio. I have or should say had a really bad back problem last year. I wanted to make sure it was back in shape before hitting the free weights and lifting big. SO i did machines for the first 4 weeks of working out, then moved on to the free weights. I have been doing the free weights for about 7 weeks now roughly and things are going really good. Except of course for the squats. My weight loss has slown down a bit latelly, but i am assuming it is because muscle weighs more than fat, and that i am converting the fat into muscle right now, because i have noticed my strength going up alot here latelly. I would still like to lose another 40 to 60 lbs, and be around 205 which i think is a realistic goal. I am shooting for that weight by next summer. So again , i want to thank all of you for your input and advice.... i will try it out and see what happens. Thanks Again.
