If i do decide to do the CKD what should my grocery list consist of...how oh how do you not eat more then 20g of carbs...better yet...how or what do you consume to just get 20mgs of carbs...protein shakes? 4g a serving?
i believe this has been covered on a previous thread but here's a starter
chicken breasts
canned tuna
oatmeal (not instant)
lettuce
veggies (green)
veggies (red)
veggies (yellow/orange)
NO potatoes not a veg
no corn
lo carb tortillas
herbs
spices
hot sauce
mayo
olive oil
lean beef
venison
buffalo/bison
fresh tuna
fresh salmon
canned salmon
canned mackrel
soy sauce
garlic
ginger
chili peppers
black pepper
cider vinegar
rice wine vinegar (unseasoned)
high fiber crackers (bowel buddy)
wheat germ and bran
oat bran
psyillum fiber
celery
more lettuce
npb (natural peanut butter)
fish oil caps
a good multi vit/min
nuts (esp walnuts)
seeds (esp pumpkin and seasame)
sprouts (alot of different kinds get them all)
veggies (raw) meaning your fave veg you would eat raw without adding anything to
yes
but i used them also as rescue carbs
when a craving becomes a jonesing you can slip back on them
and you have to consider glycemic index
some carbs contain alot of fiber so actually burn more cals than the provide

I suppose my main worry is how to get or spread 20 grams of carbs throught the day....im lost to why you have to consider the GI index? The 20 grams of carbs should come for a complex (low GI) source right?
yes
but the gi takes into the fact fiber
fiber slows down the uptake of carbs
but let's not worry about that for now
just remember a simple glass of carbs will contain 12 grams of carbs
save your carbs for post work out
