some weak PR's

scruples

ok, i know in the scheme of things, these weights were nothing, but i've struggled for so long w/225lb squats... it got to the point where i was afraid that i would collapse under the weight... so i backed off and hung around at 185 or so for way too long, but also began doing good mornings and really hitting my abs like i should've been doing this whole time (esp. w/static decline holds)... anyways, i did 225x3 for the first time in a few months (though i'd done 225 in the past) and then did 245x1... not too impressive, huh? i'm just glad to have finally made some progress...

after that i went over and hit SLDL 315x2... previous best was 275x3... looks like those good mornings are starting to pay off??

and i also saw today some dude w/a bottle of honey where he was working out... wtf!?! looking for some extra carb power?!

The stronger my abs get and everything else follows....

Wu-what? I can't understand why your SLDLs are so much better than your squat? You must be sandbagging your squats then. Regardless of the #'s, you are making progress and that is fantastic bro, keep it going!

progress no matter how large or little is still progress. All these little (pr) will add up real quick and you will be very surpirsed, Keep it up and hit it hard...

thanks... it's kinda funny how one good day in the gym has totally brought back my motivation...

regarding the squats, i also don't know why my SLDL is higher... am still assuming that it is a prob w/my abs... so i will continue to hit 'em and get three plates up on the squat real soon...

i think that it also might be kinda mental...first time i ever did squats, i tried 225 and i almost bailed... my back totally rounded and it scared the shit out of me... i thought that i could do it because i was moving "so much weight" on the angled leg press... that was a huge lesson in humility that left a lingering bad taste in my mouth for squats... fuck it though, nothing's stopping me now...

Heck of a job!!!!!!!!!

Just hang in there! About 6 years ago, I was in the same situation as you. At the time, I was working out with 185 to 200lbs on squats for sets of 8-10. I was scared to work with 225lbs. When I moved down to Oklahoma City, I was sick and tired of being scared of the squat rack. I finally forced myself to get into the cage and undergo a new challenge. After 5 years of grueling leg workouts, I am now able to handle some heavy weights. All you have to do is to work hard and your goals will be achieved. Your stiff leg deads are pretty impressive! Continue to set small goals, until you can eventually reach the long tem goal. Good Luck!!

Good work scruples. It won't be long before you are squatting 315, especially with such strong hams and back (since your stiff leg deads are so high).
