Small Rant about Beer.

I am pretty surprised by the guys in the gym, saying they down a few beers after lifting. Or they drink on the weekend with the football games. I've never really understood why people spend all the time lifting, exercising to completely destroy their gains by alcohol. I've tried explaining to them that drinking and weight lifting / training does not mix but they don't listen. Does anyone here drink beer still? I personally don't want to put anything in my body thats is filled with toxins/empty calories. I do have a cheat meal once a week, but it has never consisted of alcohol.

I used to drink beer all the time now if i drink on the weekends its usually bacardi 151 and diet coke or orange juice. Im still in college so free beer is everywhere so its hard to resist but I manage

On occasion a frosty Newcastle or Guinness. Lately it's been red wine (for the properties of it) when I've wanted a drink with dinner or something like that.

I did notice one time I had more than just a glass... bout a whole bottle of wine, I woke up (no headache or anything) was sore as HELL... i was like wtf?!

I blame it on the lack of protein synthesis that I missed out on whist sleeping with the alcohol in me.... I had never noticed that before (when I was in my "drinking days"... although I didn't lift during those years).

i drink pretty much every weekend...i just try and make up for it the next day by hitting the treadmill....if that doesn't happen then oh well. i know i will not hit 6%bf this way...but 8% is achieveable. i'll prob kick the drinking for a few months after the holidays and then try to hit 6%....but i know drinking once a week that's not possible

it's all about you and your goals...you can't get away with it if your goal is to have paper tight skin and rippiling veins...

You only live life once man, have a little fun and don't be so uptight about it. Nor does alchohol "completely destroy your gains" ... If you can't have a good cold beer, watch your favorite pro team on sunday, then you're a midget.

I used to rent to this guy who was a bodybuilder and ever weekend this guy would down beers and eat bags and bags of chips... He was ripped like crazy. I also worked out with him and he would not need to do much heavy lifting to get this cut.
