Sick of My life, starting a new one, any lifestyle tips appreciated. =)

Not trying to take your wind out of your sails but I am powerfully OCD - I went straight to bodybuilding for the control issues you are referring to. They work in some ways but in others - at least in my case - it is just a source of more stress and loss of control. I didn't really feel that way until I started competing though so so long as you aren't competitive, you're fine.

Maintenance calories depends primarily on your BMR - how much lean mass your body has. For a relatively lean individual around the 200lb mark, it is usually close to 3000kcal, thuogh fluctuates based on individual genetics and precise body compositions and activity levels. It's very personal and only you can ascertain your maintenance calories.

That isnt a good diet for losing weight.. This trainer isnt a very good dietician. I definetly agree with the guy who said vegetables. Bananas, Pork, and 3 cups of pasta? Not very good. You need to get rid of these things. And maybe not all that bread in your first meal and add more eggs. (no yolks)

I know you weren't trying to take the wind out of my sails, I was just kidding about that hence the /jk.

so, since I'm the only one who can ascertain my maintenance calories what would be the best way to figure this out? I'd imagine I'd have to read alot on the topic to fully know what my maintenance level is.

I'm sure it's not the best diet for losing weight, but still losing 16 lbs in a month isn't all that bad, I don't ever eat pork, it was just one of the suggestions. He gave me a list of things I can use to replace certain items with, carbs and protien, he says as long as the carbs and protien are in balance I'll be fine, which from what I'm reading might not entirely be the case.

Bananas may not be the best thing.. but it sure as hell is better for you then a candybar... or a bag of chips etc. 3 cups of pasta does seem like alot and it always has when I have eaten the meals, I much prefer the cup and half of rice.

I'm going to try to find the numbers on my diet plan when I wake up, er.. find the plan in general.. heh. so that maybe I can get some suggestions on what to replace these things with? I'm sure you guys have alot of valuable information but I can't really get rid of any of these things if I don't know what to replace it with. ;p so any suggestions on that would be lovely. but again I'll look around and see what I can find aswell, thanks to all who have responded thus far, greatly appreciated.

in all honesty I have alot of trouble eating this entire diet on a dialy basis, I don't even really come close, which probably isn't the best thing, though I never go feeling hungry.

Yes sir. Read. Do a search on wikipedia or google and you'll find lots of stuff. It isn't hard though - I think most people make the estimate that you take your bodyweight in pounds, and multiply by 12 and that is your daily maintenance. It is a good place to start anyways and will vary depending on your activity level.

Dude

#1 Congratulations on taking control of your life

#2 Don't post up if you've gonna counter everyone's suggestions and ask for help and then not take it. Your diet needs work. Fix it. Stop rationalizing. Rationalizing got you were you are now.

good post.

Basically what we are trying to tell you is that, yes your diet may be doing something for you because you are eating cleaner than you ever were, but at the same time you could be eating and getting results much more effectively if you would tweak some things and take some suggestions. It is your body and you control how you get to where you are trying to get as far as goals are concerned, but remember many of the guys on this board (ladies also) have been through this before and are trying to give you advice on what works best. We are here to help, use what we tell you or dont, but dont expect anyone here to come in and say "GOOD DIET! WAY TO GO" because its not going to happen. We are glad you are making a change in your life and are here to support yah, but if your looking for people to just give you positive feedback when you are not doing things 100%, its not going to happen, just remember that.

If you want advice we are here to help, if you are just going to argue that your "nutrionalist said so, so it must be ok", then there is no point to our feedback.

When you decide why you are really here, let us know and we will be more than happy to help out.

:-)

well I was never trying to not take any of the suggestions.

I plan on getting the flax oil and adding that to my diet, but like I said..

I AGREE that this is not the best diet for losing weight..

I AGREE that I should probably take out my pasta and the banana's but what do I replace these things with?

I also agree that I need to learn more about dieting, and that I definately need some more vegetables, I'm looking for the diet sheet, so that I can throw in other suggestions.

according to my calculations 245 x 12 that my maintenance calories are right around 2900.

I WOULD LOVE a way to eat all the calories in a day that I should without having to eat such gigantic meals. which is why I usually skip one or two of them.

So Mr.Legacy.. I am here because I really am going to lose weight, I don't even want to lose weight, I'm just going to do it.

I'm here in this thread because I saw alot of other diets out there, and saw alot of things that were probably better then what was going into my diet, and thought maybe I'd get some feedback on mine.

I'm here trying to figure out what I need to replace the things I need to get rid of, and how much? etc etc..
