Should You Continue Squats if Your Knee Hurts When Doing Them?

Last night I worked legs. It has been a couple weeks due to the holidays and me generally hating working legs. Anyway, Even on my warm up set I noticed my right knee hurt when I was going down and worse when I was going up. Then when I went to heavier weight it started hurting worse. So I blew off the rest of the sets. And went and did leg presses which didn't hurt as bad and I was able to go heavier.

Did I do the right thing or does ya'lls knees hurt sometime when you are squatting?

doc

see the dr bro. if you put your hand in the fire and its hot,you don't leave it there do ya? No Pain No Gain does not mean keep doing something that hurts like medically....

...

Not sure. I have cartilidge in mine that needs to be scoped soon. Leg extensions hurt like hell yet I can squat 500 with no pain. But still have to be scoped first of the year.

See a dr. get a MRI and find out before you do more damage that will really fuck your lifting up. Train with pain, but don't train with an injury.

Anyone whose knees are not 100% should definitely avoid squatting. I'd say lay off the squats until your knee heals. If the pain was really bad then go and see your doctor.

curling....... why dont you say the truth..... we all know you love leg pressing more than squatting...... quite being a baby and suck it up......

just kidding.

hows it going big man i have read anything from you in a while..... glad to see your still doing the squats.

look at the postioning of you knee in relation to your foot

the only reason i can see why it hurts more on squats is i bet your knee goes out over the toe

on leg press i bet you place your feet higher...... which pulls the knee behind the foot and in a more comfortable postion.

if this is not the case..... see a doctor

hope maybe i helped......

i would back off and see if it went away,if it doesn't then you gotta check it out and see why.......don't just quit doing legs.....

1) Stretch and warmup. Its dangerous to just step under the squat and start pushing heavy weight, even if you think youre just warming up. do 5mins on the tread mill.
2) Use lighter weight.
3) use straps
4) see the doctor if it persists.

I took my own advice , as i had the same prob, and i skipped number 4.
