Setting realistic goals for squats

I picked up squatting a few weeks ago, and I'm just wondering how I'm doing. My best so far is 150 for 10 reps. I'm 24 y/o, 62'' and about 117lbs. Is this average? I would like to keep improving, but I want to set realistic goals for myself. Any feedback would be appreciated. Oh, and any good tips for how to work past plateaus in progress/gains? Thanks!!

You need a new goal of eating more food lol.

But your goal is to move up in weight every month. So one month from your start, set that goal at 175 x 10

117 lbs for a female is fine...she doesn't need to eat more food...

a realistic goal for a female is BW x 2.5
your strongest body part is legs and glutes as a female
my 3x8-10 squat is 225 but I outweigh you, my LBM is right around 130 and I sit at 165 lbs right now...Im also taller at 5'7"

a good progression series is the strong lifts 5x5 method

oh...and so I don't sound snarky...I don't mean to be...150 lbs for a novice squatter if your doing a free barbell not under a smith at or below parallel is excellent

if you're using a smith...stop...do it in a power rack instead and anything above parallel is actually bad for your knees so don't do it

Haha I'm sorry! Your 100% right. I had no idea it was a girl lol

I worked up to 205 for 3-5 reps, but I am trying to reduce leg size for figure competition so I don't squat heavy anymore. Keep your form good and don't over squat. Too much heavy squatting will wear out your knees.
