I'm guessing its just another result of heavier lifting & constantly training (and age...) The actual lock up has only happened twice but its scary to be alone in your house and you can't stand up. Its as simple as just a strained muscle so I'll just take care of it. Of course those little strains never seem to go completely away, so you just adjust life around it. I've switched over to more basic / core training and dropped the weights some. That will help. Just focus on letting my whole body work together instead of worknig the shit out each muscle group. Never had problems like this before, ever.

See, now that isn't good, is there nothing they can do???

Well, I've never had a lock up, so I guess that's good. It's not been painful at all. Just started 3-4 months ago. When I do leg curls I feel it, but nothing else in the gym. I feel it in normal everyday activity sometimes so I try to keep it in the back of my mind at all times. So you've never had problems with it, it just all of a sudden started.....I was just trying to compare what's going on with yours to whats going on with mine. When these lock ups happen, how long does it keep you from standing?

The difference is most likely the volume of lifting from up to a month ago went up significantly & actually surfaced a lot of different little strains. Then I switched over to this squat / push /pull thing and only train 3x/week (other days are cardio & abs). Then over the weekend I was feeling my hams / glutes weren't getting hit as much as I would prefer as my "pull" day was mostly rows - not DLs. So I did a couple hammie things and the leg curl must've aggravated it.

The issue w/ the lock up is that it happens if I'm kneeling or sitting on my left leg then sort of roll over get it out from under me & it must hit it just right were it locks up - like a muscle spasm. But seeing how I had no idea what was going on, I was scared to try to force it straight. I actually did force it straight as it was only a small lock up the other day - I heard a pop like stuff settling back into place and it was ok again. So how long - I guess in the extreme case the first time it took probably 5 hrs of laying down & alternating ice every 20 min before it just relaxed.

The chiro ultrasounded it a couple hrs ago, but now it hurts some probably from the massaging she did to break up some of the knotting. I'm gonna pass on the gym tonite and ice it when I go to bed.

Hey J
I hope your knee is better, we have a POLAR ice chest for post surgery that is great on the knee.."Cold therapy devices generally consist of a picnic-type chest cooler in which is placed a quantity of ice and water and into which is submerged a low voltage submersible pump an in-line thermometer and flow control value. Water is circulated by way of a plastic tube to a hollow rubber pad which is placed on the affect body part, and back to the water chest."
They work wonders in this house...

I am better thanks for the advice!

I have one of these things too....got mine after my knee surgery - it's pretty cool!!

Hey girls :)

The knee - still icing it at night & staying off of it. I went out for a few drinks last nite & pretty much felt like trash all day today. And tonite had a phone interview that really wasn't a good match for my background. However the lady who is interested in my house is coming back tomorrow to look at the house :)
