Post Workout drink/shake??

what does everyone drink immediately after working out? Do you take a carb/protein shake or some other combination?

I posted this topic a while back on the diet forum but got mixed results mostly because many bb's are concerned with any extra sugars/calories this shake might add and therefore may not use any carbs or sugars.

So for maximum anablolic growth for that "Window of Opportunity", what should we take after working out?

Im currently taking a carb/protein shake but some even say to split this up into 2 or 3 shakes, then a meal! Kinda complicated and everyone says something different!

I get a big bottle of gatorade or poweraide whatever is on sale and take a few gulps of it. This will leave some space for about 80-100 grams of whey will hardly fit. Put the top back on and shake it up. Its like 150 grams of carbs, 80 grams of protein. I sip it towards the end of training and finish it off pretty soon after training. It seems to work well.

I think that the bodybuilding/supplement community has gone overboard with the whole post trining shake thing. I tried all the grow from biotest and those hydroslates and I couldnt tell the difference between anything.

Weirdest idea I tied was that pedialyte baby formula for rehydration. Its expensive thogh like $5 for a medium sized bottle.

To be as completly honest as possible I think post workout drinks are bullshit. I have tried it all, from mass gainers to whey proteins to creatines and Ive tried almost all the different brand names. I honestly have made the best strength gains when not using anything but REAL food. I feel that as long as you get some food within 1-2 hours after working out youll be ok. Eat a bunch of beef, chicken, or fish when you get home from the gym. Youll be ok. Save your money hard times are coming lol. Thats what my mom and dad always tell me lol.

I hit the protein shake immediately after working out. Man my body craves it. Pretty much a 50 gram of protein shake with the milk added with just a few carbohydrates thats in the milk. Man...it's an immediate shot of protein which your body needs. Hit the shakes immediately after working out.

Creatine HSC and VP2 Protein Powder. Creatine HSC is a carbo,
creatine powder. I add water to HSC and skim milk to the VP2.

I try to do the above combo before and after a workout.

cytomel,

did the pedialyte do anything for you at all? i have a protein/carb mix shake after training,......

The pedialyte works really well although some of the people at Southside thought it was a strange idea

Check out the grape Albertsons version of it, it tastes a lot better than the regular version and it goes on sale sometimes.

The checkout lady was concerned when I brought it to the register and said something like "I hope your baby is ok" lol little did she know that it was for recovery!

A large meal can't be beat. Ryans all you can eat buffet, steak, and ice cream bar.

Go with a 4:1 ratio of carbs : protein.... 100:25 is perfect... using 4 scoops of ultra fuel, and one and a half of designer is an easy way....also take your vitamin c and creatine at this time. The insulin (besides obviously transporting everything) will work with the c to keep cortisol down.

I try to getin a protein shake but I don't always have time. I do try to fill up on water if I can't get anything else in me for a while.
