This morning I thought I was having arthritis pain in my hand (I get it in my knuckles sometimes)...on the back of my hand, in between my wrist and the knuckles of my pinky and ring finger...I took some Advil and went to work out. It was feeling alright, a little twinge now and then, until I did the Hammerstrength decline press, and then it totally flared up again.

Maj thinks it's tendonitis, and I'm afraid he might be right. I think the grip on the HS is at a bad angle for me. Poo! :worried: So should I just drop that exercise, or should I try to do db decline presses? I already know I can't do the barbell decline press w/o a spotter...and if I have to go to the dbs, I'm going to have to seriously decrease my weight. I'm also doing flat bench press, and considering all the exercises I do each workout, I wonder if just doing the flat bench wouldn't be enough.
 
Try DB Decline (suck up the weight drop...it's for your body's health...do you want another injury lay off....hmmmmmmmmmmmmm? ;) ) and see how that goes. If it bothers you, maybe try something else.

What else do you do?
 
I'm doing HST, so 3 times a week I do 2 sets of:

squat
SLDL
lunge
seated calf raise
bench
HS decline bp
lat pulldown
seated row
db shrug
pushpress
rear delt fly
skullcrusher
curl


I'm actually only supposed to be doing 12 exercises (I don't follow the HST program exactly, cuz I can't do some of the exercises, like dips), so the volume I'm doing is a tad high. Maybe this is the universe's way of getting me to drop one...

Listen to the universe....at least until the hand/wrist heals up. :)
 
I'm with Daisy on this one. Don't push an injury or you'll wind up like I did, Fat and pudgy with the sex drive of a houseplant...for 6 years!

Lay off! Get better! Get back at it!
 
After talking with Maj about it, I'm taking a few days off, then going with him to the gym to figure out, systematically, what my maxes are, and then plotting my strength curve following the HST protocol (which I never took the time to do). I'm also going to reduce the number of exercises I do, and will only do double sets during the 15s.

I am GOING to make this work.
