Ok sorry I am new to all of this. PLease explain what your post means. Replinish muscle Glygogen? I am trying to eat 6 times a day and it is hard for me. I was the classic eat 1 time a day girl. Now I am dieting and trying to better my eating habits. I need and want to lose 50 pounds. I thought by adding a protein shake in there, I would be having another meal, and was looking for one to drink as a meal. I am not sure what you meant replenish muscle glycogen. Please advise,
Thanks! Stephanie

It means that excercise drains the muscles of glycogen and that your main priority post workout is to replace the glycogen in the muscles. I usually add about 30-50g of dextrose to my pwo shake to replenish muscle glycogen.

Ok at the supplement store, they said don't drink it with water, I am assuming because of the taste, but with the fat free milk. I guess she didn't know what the hell she was talking about. So I will try it with water. I got the Bioflex one, I'll write more on it tomorrow. THANKS!
Stephanie

If you can't handle the taste of mixing with just water use like 70% water and 30% fat free milk just to give it that slightly creamy texture. Works a charm for me.

No No No.

The Fat is not your enemy here. You have to drop the milk all together, not because of the fat but because of the lactose which is a milk sugar. Switch to making your shakes with vanilla soy milk.

So the soy milk is a alternative to using fat free milk? It lacks the milk sugar but still gives the shake a good taste? Info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you'll cut out all the lactose (milk sugar) and mostof the fat. But you'll still get all the protein, calcium and most importantly taste in your shakes.

Thanks a lot, is soy milk all you use? Or do you use non fat milk for things other than shakes? I might just switch over to Soy milk altogether, seems to be the sensible thing to do.

I was a big milk drinker back in the day. I would put away 1-2 gallons weekly. I switched to all soy milk and never looked back. I use it for everything and stick with the "silk" brand. It's actually pretty good stuff. Enjoy bro.

So I just bought some of the Vanilla Soy milk, is the fat in there good fat like the monos and the polys because the fat content on a cup is like 3 grams?

So you really think that 11 grams of carbs in a cup of milk is a serious concern? I'm sure not going to lose sleep over it. Sure, if you're doing Atkins, CKD, or some other low/no carb diet it makes a difference, but as part of an overall balanced diet I'd keep a pint of milk each day if it makes your shakes more appealing. If you insist on cutting the carbs but still want to creamy texture then check out Carb Countdown dairy products...the "milk" is 1/3 the carbs and 50% more prot compared to regular milk. I personally think soy milk tastes like piss. My girl uses soy milk and the container I'm looking at shows 6g prot (25% less then milk), 10g carbs, 7g sugar (only one less gram total carbs and 4 grams less sugar), and 3.5 grams fat (1.5 grams MORE than 1% milk)...100 calories for an 8oz serving of either. That's not a compelling argument in favor of soy milk IMO.

This is what I do. Keeps the shakes smooth.

Carb Countdown by Hood (available at Wal-Mart for around $3/per half gal) has 12g protein, 2g net carbs in 8oz serving of chocolate)
