Newbie here needs guidance

I like the idea of supplements. We started taking ours yesterday. I went to work (at the restaurant) and felt pretty energized. Then took a caffine pill and a protein shake before we went to the gym.

At the gym, my 1st work out was deadlifts. After doing 3sets of 75lb 8x, I felt so sick! IDK if was because I lifted heavy or if It was the caffine and protein shake? After taking a breather outside for a few, I felt better. But it was a really weird feeling.

IDK if you saw read the supps I'm taking but they are: A Multivitamin, Green Tea Exctract, Hydroxycut Elite, Fish Oil, and Cafifine.
Not a hydroxycut fan, their old formula actually contributed to some liver failure cases and deaths, granted it's not the same formula anymore but still, as someone already pointed out it's a shitty caffeine supplement, personally it made me jittery in a cracked out feeling kinda way with horrible crashes as well, the effect when any didn't last much.

With stimulants you have to remember that they will make you feel like you have more energy than you actually do, specially if you have skipped meals, so if you're lifting 20lbs on something and with the stim you do 25-30 because you feel energized and stronger you can get that dizzy, sick feeling you had, don't over do it missy :)

I don't eat lucky charms everyday for breakfast. Maybe 1 time a week. lol 90% of the week I make scrambled eggs, wheat toast, sausage and maybe some bacon.

I will start eating better at the restaurant for sure. I heard the dressing w/ salads are kind of bad. So is ranch dressing w/ a salad not ok? I will really focus on the water. I hate the water at my work :/ So I need to bring water bottles from home then. We don't drink alcohol but MAYBE 1x a month. Gosh if that. lol No time.

I'm definitely motivated to eat better! I just have to be open minded to new things.

I do find myself while at work, not eating at all until I get home. So I will eat eggs, toast, and sausage at 11ish. and then not eat until I get home around 5. I just get so busy at work, I don't think to order food or heat up anything if I was to bring food from home. I know I should work on that too!
Most restaurants have "fit" options in their menu but be careful since calories arent all, some of that stuff is carb loaded, sugary and fatty despite lower calories.

As per salads ideally you should have it with olive oil, lemon or vinegar instead of salad dressings, personally I dislike that since I dont like acid things, I usually use mustard or low cal fat free salad dressing BUUUT those sometimes have high sugar contents or even worse high fructuose corn syrup so next time you go shopping take some extra time and review all the bottles and find the best fit for you.

Also remember that if you dont eat while at work your body will hold on to dear life to what you do eat in order to store it, when you dont eat you're also more likely to binge or break diet when you finally get your hands on food, I have your exact same problem, I work strange hours, some days I'm buried in paperwork some days I'm out driving all day without access to fridge or microwave, go ahead and pack a lunch in one of those thermal bags OR take a meal replacement shake, they are not ideal due to the sugar and calories but I noticed that the month I took some of those shitty equate meal replacement shakes I actually dropped about 7 pounds more than skipping my meals, I really didn't have much sugar at all on days I had them so it evened out well.

One last thing, hubby and I have adopted the chicken and brocoli routine, we buy a zillion skinless boneless chicken breasts and freeze them in meal portions for two, at night we'll thaw a bag for next day, when we get up we condiment, put them in a small toaster type oven for 30 min while we shower and get ready so when we're done so is lunch, some days we chop it some we make fajitas, etc, we'll buy different herbs and spices and some low cal fat free sauces or dressings that don't have an insane amount of sugar and sodium and we just drizzle it on for flavor, pair it up with veggies of your choice and you are good to go effortlessly.

steve idk if she read your post since it was on a new page but she will see it today after work i bet. I will say today she had some special K protein cereal which is a good start

special K cereal i do beleive has high fructose corn syrup. i think all the kelloggs cereals have that shit in it.

1. high fructose corn syrup
2. hydrogenated oils
3. soybean oil

those 3 things need to be avoided and you would be shocked at how many things you buy contain them. here is a good article on them. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/01/27/soybean-oil.aspx if these 3 ingredients were banned in the USA our obesity epidemic would collapse. they are killing our country

also PM you your story glad and i will hook you up with a natty protocol .. give you your full timeline/story

yeah most dressings are bad because most contain soybean oil. people think soybean oil is healthy cause they see 'soy' in it.. its actually just a fancy word for hydrogenated oil .. things that are hydrogenated need to be avoided. you can find healthy dressings but not gonna happen at a restaurant. your best bet is some fresh olive oil (make sure its actual olive oil), and some lemon. or you can sprinkle on some light cheese for flavor.

try and reduce your bread and swap in whole grain instead of white. you can really stick with the same foods just be smarter about the specific choices.. if you insist on cereal find a better brand that is healthier and swap in almond or oat milk instead. (unsweetened)

baby steps steve! to start with just getting a salad in there and going with the actual recommended serving size of dressing is fine...BABY STEPS

small changes lead to habit changes! let her get used to the idea of loving some salads first

Thank you :) today I worked at the jewelry store and had special K before work, a protein shake on my break, a salad w/ a little ranch and croutons for lunch and for dinner, we made a quick and easy dinner. Chili cheese dogs. I had 3 bottled waters today! Glad challenged me to drink 3. I know its probably not a lot to everyone else but I barely used to drink even 1 bottled water a day. Tomorrow I will probably do the same as for as breakfast and lunch. Except add chicken to my salad. And I'm challenging myself to drink 4 bottled waters. Oddly, I don't feel more jittery or energized while taking the hydroxycute elite. Today was day 5 and up to 2 capsules a.m. and 1 p.m.1xday. I think my receptors to stuff like that are not so sensitive? They affect Glad more than me. And he is 70lbs heavier. I worked 9-5:30 and felt so tired on my lunch at 2:00. Maybe start taking caffeine along w/ my other supps? Remember, I am trying to lose fat and gain muscle. So the caffeine wouldn't just be for energy.

Thank you everyone for continuously commenting on my thread!!

do you normally drink a lot of coffee or soda?

I never drink coffee. And I used to drink a gulp here and there while at work. I work 5 days/week at the restaurant so those days I would drink Pepsi. We don't buy soda for our house. I haven't drank Pepsi like I used to in a couple weeks.
