new squat video

Damn, that makes me wanna go squat right now! Also it makes me want to try changing my form to see what happens. I have pretty good quads already but I don't go very low at all on squats. I go deep on leg press, hacks, and front squats, but reg. back squats I rarely go even parallel, I go just above. I also always use a belt for anything over 315. I'm short too, 5'5", but going low I always feel weak and unbalanced. My quads are about 25-26 at 180lbs so they're pretty good sized... but damn dude, I wonder how much better they'd be if I could get my form down as well as you? Guess I'll just have to try and find out. Thanks for the inspiration bro!! :)

you can and with decent results, I think the results are better with free squats, but smith squats ass to the floor are solid too, especially if you have your feet in front of you, more stress on the quads

tux, trust me, you'll see a huge difference. Years ago I remember squatting 315 for reps and thinking I was all bad ass, but I dont think I was even doing parallel. I got sick of the guys at the gym hassling me(one squats 900 in competition now...), so I dropped down to 225lbs. It took me quite a while to get back to 315 again for reps, but when I did, my quads were two inches bigger....same weight though, but ass to the floor. With your height too, you are less likely to need a belt than a tall dude too
 
Thanks bro, I'll give it a try this week and see. It'll probably give my low-back a break too since I'll have to drop the weight to about 225 like you did to get that full range. If I come back at the end of summer with 27 inch quads I'll become your faithful disciple for the rest of my days! At least till you get crucified or something, then I'll deny you 3 times and use my newly massive quads to sprint away like a bat outta hell... I just don't like having nails through my body :)
 
bad ass squats period. i could see the forward lean but if ur backs strong not a problem . as a matter of fact when i used to powerlift id lean in a little at the bottom not great form i know but seems i could generate a little more power outta the hole that way . keep pounding em

sounds good, I've never had a disciple before....always wanted one though....if it doesnt work though, I'll deny ever giving advice :)
 
That's perfect! If it works, you get a faithful disciple. If it doesn't, I certainly won't backtrack any and you can disavow any knowledge of the penguin known as Tux :) Most likely I think it'll work though... too bad leg day isn't till friday!

it'll work....and you can impress everyone in your gym with your rock bottom squats and stump like legs....
my leg day is on friday as well, great way to start the weekend
