Being that only a handful of us on EF train legs and that a handful of those are reping 400-500lbs REGULARLY don't you think it's a bad idea to suggest NOT using wraps and staying away from a belt?

SQ-

If you're using a belt and wraps on every set you're not allowing your joints to get stronger along with your quads. If you want to use gear for a 1-3 rep max set fine but otherwise I don't think it's needed either. I haven't worn knee wraps once since 1977 and I haven't owned a belt in about 8 years. I recently ordered one just so I'd have it but I plan to use it more for standing presses than leg/back work.

you used to squat the same weights as me, so you would probably beat me to 5 plates by a week, like you did with every other bet(fucker).
ths shorts look short because my legs are just so long

Awesome dude I use to do 525 for 4 reps but I used Knee wraps and belt and ass sitting down on a chair(parallel) never ass to the floor thats good shit, but again I was 19 years old play football. Now I stick with 405 for 15 reps dont want to go heavier I'm 23 years old and want to keep at the range still growing but dont want to go that heavy anymore. My strength conditioning coach didnt allow us to use any belts before 405lbs after that we could and knee wraps were not only allow only for maxing or close to maxing say 3 to 4 range so if that helps for some of you bros!!. But awesome lift

I thought the non existent pause between reps was impressive.

thats pretty impressive squatting too, especially for the age

dialtone, thanks, there was a pause between # 5 and 6, but I guess it wasnt that bad. I've been doing a lot of rest pause on my squats lately, but just didnt have it in me to do it to get to the usual 8 reps this time

I hear what you guys are saying, but it's just that i've ALWAYS used wraps/belts that I can't see past NOT using them. I have felt the pressure in my lower back though, so you could argue that point that it could be from the belt, but the wraps??

are you asking if the pressure in your lower back could be from the wraps? If so, I just cant see how that could be the case. If you still squat ass to the floor, I dont think the belt is necessarily a bad thing at all, I just prefer not to use one. But the wraps are the devil

i like the belt and wraps but only in a competion or last heavy singles when training but
I've never used a belt for back support i use the the belt solely to push against with my abs and the wraps keep the patella in place under super heavy loads all BB who have powerlifted knows what im saying
