Fair enough as long as I get a hands on spot :qt:

is there any other kind?

azul, quads are about 29" cold, which doesnt sound super big, but I'm only 5'8", with a 30" inseam, so they are as big around as they are long(from waist to ankle). They are about 27" in my avatar, so they've definitely gotten bigger

I would say stay away, or keep it to a minimum. Other than 1 ab exercise per week, I dont do anything else to train my midsection, but when I diet down to contest condition, my whole midsection is crazy, which I figure has to be from the heavy squats and deads(been up to 550lbs for reps on deads) without a belt.

Carth, I would say ass to the floor is key, thats where I got my best leg development, and there is no cheating when it gets heavy as you know the feeling of your ass touching your ankles. Its also safer on the knees, as the stress shifts from your knees to your hips when you go that low, and the hips are a way stronger joint.

Tweakle bro, you're only an hour away, and squat around the same as me, we have to hook up and hit legs. Superqt, same goes for you, but i get to dictate what you wear though(or dont wear)

smaretick, that is an impressive weight, I'm squatting 100lbs more, but I outweigh you by 90lbs as well

NEEDLE: First let me say much respect to you and your video as you represent and have represnted the sport of Complete Bodybuilding very well. I wish more folks would take the attitude you have about squats then maybe we wouldn't see so many top heavy "power lifters" (slash) "bodybuilders" in the gyms like we see today.

However:

I stand 5'8 and routinly train legs and have ALWAYS, and I do rep bewteen 350 and 440 off cycle. Not bragging just saying I do like to bang my legs.

I'm splite between you and Carth on the "ass dragging thing" You do have to go low to an extent but, at a certain point on decent the strech on the quads and hams (the primary muscles being trained) are not being stressed making the lower "ass dragging" effect some what of a wasted movment. Instaed of a controlled lowering and raising of the bar it's reduced to somewhat of a bouncing/spring effect as no stress being on the legs at that point on the decent. This may not aply to you or I being that we're 5'8 but on a person 6'0 this would likley be the case.

Like I said i'm split cause if your legs are growing they're growing and besides that I thought you form was right on. ;)

Now about the belt and wraps:

Being that only a handful of us on EF train legs and that a handful of those are reping 400-500lbs REGULARLY don't you think it's a bad idea to suggest NOT using wraps and staying away from a belt?

sir que, some good points there.
I can only comment on ass to the floor for me, as thats my experience, but my training partner alltraps is around 6", and squats ass to the floor too, and its never hurt him, and he has good quads. The key other than development, is the stress shifting to the hips once you pass parallel, the hips are so much stronger and it keeps the knees much more healthy

As for wraps and belt, I think wraps are a no no, unless you are a powerlifter going for a max, otherwise they are just doing the work your body should be doing, and much more likely to create imbalances. With a belt, the risk of hernia is much much higher if you use one, and it can lead to imbalances with core strength, but thats a personal decision. If one were to use one, I would keep it to a minimum. BUt personally I do think that not using one, keeping form bang on, and working on core strength is the way to go...but that is honestly just my opinion...and I can only base it on myself and what I've experienced

What impresses me most is how strong your lower back is. Alot of people fail on the squat because they have not worked their lower back properly and this prevents them from making progress. You have a very strong lower back and that has allowed you to do reps. There's plenty more where that came from too, so I look forward to hearing what your doing for reps later in the year
