Need help with breakfast

I dont have time to make breakfast in the morning, and I am not all that hungry when I wake up. The only thing I have time for is a protein shake on the run. I add a couple scoops of weight gainer to the scoop of whey to increase the calories. I get sick of plain protein skakes in the morning. What is the deal with adding oatmeal to it ? Is it cooked oatmeal, or uncooked ? And explain exactly how you add it to your shake ? The more details the better.

Thanks.

Just put in the raw oats, 1/2 cup of quaker is 27gs of carbs, 1 cup would therefor be 54... depending how many u want that eartly... and usually liquify setting on my blender gets em pretty good... but they get annoying if they settle at the bottom so drink up quick.

Another great option is doing like 1/2 cup of oats and/or a piece of fruit... especially for taste variation. The ice cream aisle of the supermarket has frozen fruit packages....pineapple, strawberries, melon, mixed berries... extremely easy to throw a cup of that into the blender, adds flavor, and also improves the shake consistency big time into more of a smoothie. Keep that to breakfast or post workout though.

I agree with everything kabeetz said. I usually go with 1 cup milk, 1/3 - 1/2 cup raw oats, 1 scoop choc protein, and a frozen banana. You have to peel the banana before you freeze it, but it definately helps with texture of the shake. Liquify for sure, otherwise those unblended oats on the ass end of the shake could make u cringe.

Thanks alot. I will give it a try. 2 scoops of weight gainer, 1 scoop whey, 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup of oats and 1 cup of milk in a blender. Does this sound right ?

Sounds good, and don't forget to customize it for your current situation. I, for eample, am cutting so I stay away from the dairy.

Also if two scoops of your weight gainer equals 60 gs of protein or more, you probably wouldn't need the other 25+ gotten from the whey, but you might want the caloric benefit of the scoop. If you're on a straight balls out bulk, you might want to throw in a 1 serving of all natural peanut butter... the banana, oats, peanut butter, protein shake is my all-time favorite bulking combo...and adds another 190 calories as well.

You're talking about a 900-1200 calorie shake depending how many calories u're getting out of the weight gainer and the size of the banana. Good stuff.
