Muscle injury, questions on therapy

These guys are right, a chiropractor may surprise you and get you going again.

I`ve had back injuries (still do) for many years but never went to a chiro because "I did`nt want my back cracked" but when the pain was so bad I could`nt even breathe due to the expanding rib cage causing pain. I tried it. and I would recommend them to anyone.
I used to go for weeks just like you with no lifting to "heal" but when I get back it starts all over again. Now when I feel pain I get it fixed right away. No more days in bed immobile. good luck

how much can you bench??

Honestly, not a lot. Around 200 at the moment. I have not been able to train heavy since before my injury, due to excessive pain. I really don't see how the amount I can bench matters though, I am just concerned with repairing whatever I damaged.

I did go to a chiropractor. He aligned the vertebrae in my back along with some other things. It seems to have helped. He said my scapula was in alignment on thursday. Although, on Friday I did have some pain in the shoulder blade area after doing some light weight front and rear deltoid exercises.

Find a chiro who practices ART (Active Release Technique). Here's a website with more info:

I was turned on to this type of soft tissue therapy by a world level PLer; he'd been so beat up he almost contemplated quitting the sport. After a few months of ART, he turned around and got a gold in the squat and third overall at the 2002 World Championships - that's how big a difference it can make.

I was overstretching (splits) and really messed up my hip flexors. I started ART therapy 5 weeks out from Nationals, and was feeling awesome by the time I had to go out onstage. Considering I couldn't stretch without tears in my eyes, this was HUGE! I continue to go once a week for maintenance (and it seems like something could stand to be fine tuned every week - the joys of training). I can't say enough about the benefits of ART. If you can, find a level 3 ART practitioner - they're usually the ones who do the most work on athletes; my guy pretty much only deals with athletes, and he understands the "I have a competition so I'm gonna train no matter what" mentality.
