men at the gym - grrrr

People (men HEE! HEE!) can de downright rude in the gym.. Like your workout doesn't mean something..

I changed my whole schedule up at my old gym because it was impossible to get an uninterrupted workout.. Some people don't even wait until you are finished with a set:mad:

no...in my gym, it does happen because I'm a woman. I watched this guy case the free weight area, then he chose to go right in front of me, the only woman. Happens ALL the time.

About a month ago it happened in a very obvious way, the guy was in my face, so I just said to him, "Excuse me, please, Ive been in this spot for 20 minutes"

NO response. Then I said "if that 300 lb guy over there was in this space, would you have gone 1 ft in front of him?" Looked at me and ran away.

I was just saying, I am sick of it happening ONLY to me (or females) in the area of my gym. I hardly EVER see a guy go in front of another guy in my gym. However, 90% of these guys are gay, hence probably why they dont care about stepping on me.

can't I have one rant a year???

Yeah, but after twenty years of marriage, or so, it rather backfires.

"Do these jeans make me look fat?"

Nah, its not the jeans.

"Did you take out the trash?"

I thought your mother already left.

"Are you really going to wear that?"

Actually, I thought of going wearing only horseradish and a feather boa, but thought you might prefer this.

There are baggy pants for all occasions.

Aren't there?

Of course there are....every color from "White" to Black...nothing like being comfortable.

:fro:

My personal favorite was:

Wife:
"Dear, what was the first thing you noticed about me?"

Me: "Well, I was looking at you from behind . . . "

NY is right to a certain amount. Everyone has rude things happen in a busy gym certainly. However it happens to women more. I am bigger and stronger then about 2/3 of the guys in my gym but still things happen to me like smoknjilly.

Seems like two different types of things happening here. The "invisible girl" thing where the guy is up your ass like your not there , and the obvious seksist thing, "thats a lot of wieght for a little girl like you!" or "are you STILL trying to get bigger??" Usually i have good humour over this and am nice or make a little joke, but sometimes the test is up and i get irritated! Once i MOVED a guy who came up and blocked my mirror and i was asking please move over and over. He kept saying "even een ogenblik" (just a second), so i moved him myself.

There is less respect for women in the gym. Doesnt matter how advanced you are in your training. I do not say here that all men or even most men in the gym are less respect of women there. However, there are a good amount of them and they can certainly bother a womens workout.

How to react to the wimpy guy

How do you react towards the puny guy who takes your space???

You look him dead in the eye, with your hands gripped on the dumbells at your side and say to the loser (in a lower more masuline tone) do you not see that I'm standing here????? (with attitude) Then stare at him until he moves over, flick your hair, drop the weights and take up more space. That'll get that cocky wimp. Show him you're a powerful women and you're not gonna put up with any shit or any invasion on your space. Then when you're leaving the gym, walk by him, smile at him real big and say, have a nice day :)

jejeje...has not happend to me yet!!!
I am a BITCH by nature..and got even worst when got to NYC...
I have a BIG mouth..so people respect me at the gym....

i totally respect women who lift hard. just never really see em. except my sister but i got her started and convinced her myself and shes still a beginner. hardest thing is to get her to stick to a diet. the training is no problem. she busts her ass all on her own initiative now *proud*

I hate to say it, but it happens all the time to men and women.:(
I think it's a combination of them saying "hey look at me" and just sheer stupidity.
