Losing weight: don't mix carbs with proteins at meals?

I've heard this before, but could someone explain the reasoning behind it?

So this means, no buttered toast, no chicken w/brown rice for dinner, no milk in my oatmeal?

ah true..

well those were just examples..
I am not eating any carbs really.. other than those found in veggies and dairy products..

is cheese bad to eat?

but yeah I was eating brown rice for dinner.. but you say to cut this practice and only eat carbs early in the day?

Dairy isn't that bad when cutting. I take in 3-5 servings a day when cutting and I manage to keep my 6 pack just fine.. Just you may need to cut out some cals somewhere else, also you would want to eat the low fat/fat free dairy b/c the fat in dairy prodcuts are pretty high. In the end it basicaly comes down to cals in vs cals out..

I think that's likely because of your genetics as opposed to your diet. Most people would not be able to take in that much dairy and still lose bf.

you can cut and take in tons of dairy as long as you remain in
ketosis without any carbs....

people on atkins eat tons of cheese and lose tons of bodyfat

Trust me, not genetics.. If I eat like the normal person my age, I'd be a huge fat ass.. In fact I used to weigh 245-250lbs at 5'10. So it doesn't have to do with my genetics. I have to pretty much count ever cal that goes in my body to maintain my 6 pack.. How is dairy so bad when trying to lose body fat? I'm talking about fat free/low fat cheese, skim milk, low fat cottage cheese.. Not that high in carbs, low/no fat, high in protein.. Like I said, if you add these to your diet, then you need to take out cals somewhere else.

Cozmo - I know that atkins dieters can take in a lot of dairy. I just get tired of qualifying every diet response I give with "unless you're on a low/no-carb diet."

6pack - I assumed that when you said dairy, you meant regular dairy, my mistake. I guess in my own mind, I don't count stuff like skim milk and fat free cheese as dairy, even though it obviously is.

Gymtime... if you read the third post on this thread... its by the starter of
the thread... he specifically says that he's taking in no carbs other than
veggies... so thats typical atkins diet....

thats why I said it was ok for him
