Last few weeks before the contest...

Contest on May 18th...here is what I have in mind.

Wed: box squats, 275 +heavy and med and light (not choking the light though) x 8 sets of 2
pull throughs, purple band, 4 sets of 15
Rev Hypers, 4 sets of 8
Standing Calf raises

Friday: speed bench press, 225 x 8 x 3 reps
1-5 board press, sets of 3 315-365
Incline bench press, 275 x 2 sets of 3-5 (not intense at all)
Light rows or lat movement, 2-3 sets
light dbell curls, 2-3 sets

Sunday: Moderate ME day, Heavy Events day

Wed: box squats: 275 plus single looped heavy bands, 8 sets of 2
pull throughs, purple bands, 4 sets of 20
Rev Hypers, 4 sets of 8
Standing Calf raises, 4 sets

Friday: speed bench press, 225 x 8 x 3 reps
1-5 board press, sets of 3 315-365
Incline bench press, 275 x 2 sets of 3-5 (not intense at all)
Light rows or lat movement, 2-3 sets
light dbell curls, 2-3 sets

Sunday: Hard ME day, light events day

Tuesday: box squats: 275 x 8 sets of 2
pull throughs, purple bands, 2 sets of 10
rev hypers, 2 sets of 6
light calf stretch only

Wednesday: light walking

Thursday: light walking

Friday: weigh in in STL, then eat a ton

Saturday: Contest day

What do you think? I have been doing my speed squats with the heavy and med bands choked tight with 275. This week I was thinking about doing them the same but adding the light bands non-choked.

I am using light weight and high band tension to help with my explosiveness in my events.

Please give me your opinions...

The only thing i can think of is making sure your speed is good off the box but it looks like your delaoding the bands after this wed so it looks good.
 
My speed was flying before I choked the bands last week. I have the contest on the 18th and another on June 15th I think.

Like we have discussed I worry that you have been at that high band tension for too long. My recommendation would about the same as GRIMMER....deload before the contest. The last box squat workout before the contest I would ONLY use the Green (Med) band...and I might even lower the bar weight a small amount. The strenth you have developed will carry over...and the deload will get your speed back up.

I will plan do deload even more. Say....225 plus med bands?

i agree........ drop some of that band tension down...... belive me........ in two weeks all of your effort with those bands will not be forgotten.

i just did 10 sets of 2 with 205 plus the medium bands...... kinda ruff for me...... but i think ideal for you....... especially using 225.

get some butt for us all and throw those tires around like it just another day at the park.

(you know when you get on espn and im showing you to all of my friends......... im going to tell them that i told you everthing you know....... )

Hahaah..I hear ya.

I think that I discussed this with Hannibal...my explosiveness is a lot better than my strength. Who knows though...

I feel so comfortable with the bands and actually seem to squat better with them...lol

I may not even squat the Tuesday before the contest...probably will not.
