Monday March 13

Weight: N/A

**Woke up with a headache, general body pain & more horrible cramps.....yay! Have Physical Therapy this morning + I see my Orthopedic surgeon to discuss surgery..... :worried:

7:30am
3 Ibuprofen

7:50am
Begin on 1 Travel Mug of Coffee + 3 packets Splenda + 3 tblsp. FF Coffeemate

8:25am
1 Glucorell

8:45am
6 hard boiled egg whites
2/3 cup dry oats + 2 pakcets Splenda + apple pie spice + 1 tblsp. raisins

**Don't think I took any Sesamax after Meal 1, but now I forget.....

9:30am - Physical Therapy
Warmup on stationary bike - 5 mins, 0 resistance
Right Leg Press: 107.5lbs - 3x6
Right Leg Extensions: 62.5lbs (?) - 3x6
Squats on 8" riser/platform, left leg held out to front - 3x10
Iso Kinetic kicks
Stim

Iced knee for 12 mins afterwards....

**They told me my quad is MUCH stronger now...which is good - so I might be able to test out of the stim soon.... They also explained to me that it's possible after surgery to have a 50% loss of strength in my right leg, so the purpose of all this PT is that if I go in with 80% strength in my right leg (as compared to my left leg) then a 50% loss would = 30% strength. But if I went in with, say 30% strength - then I'd be starting PT after surgery in a MUCH weaker position....so this all makes sense....

And so the Countdown to Surgery begins.......

Well, had my pre-surgical appt. today......Surgery again is 4/4 at 7:30am but I have to BE there by 5:30am...... *Rolling Eyes*

I am getting the allograft....Dr. said that they have found the allograft is 25% stronger than an autograft from the hammy or other area....and they prefer an allograft on someone my age anyway....I asked about risks, complications, disease, etc etc - they said they've never had a problem and the tissue from from donors from Utah.....

They will be giving me a "block" on my leg which will numb the leg for 10-12 hours and I will be "out" completely for the surgery which is supposed to take 1.5 hours....Then I'll get Oxycontin and either Percoset or Dilaudid for pain afterwards.....Whoooo!!!! I'll be able to drive after surgery once I pass their little "driving test" motion.....

An interesting side note is that they told me they've done 25 ACL surgeries so far this year alone on skiiers who tore their ACL when their skis did not release......Guess I'm #26......

As far as PT goes - I'm doing well there - my quad is getting stronger & I'm hoping to be able to test out of the stim soon & maybe no require a burst test anymore.....I HATE the burst test....ugh!

hey jen did you see that 20/20...make sure you know where everything is coming from that is a donor!!

No - I didnt' see it on TV - someone had given me the link....

I just left a message for the Dr's secretary about getting my question answered....they had said the donor tissue comes from Utah - but I want to verify that.....
