how important is it to really drink alot of water a day?

I agree. The benefits of a high consumption of water are enormous. If you're spending loads of money on supplements as I do, such as protein, creatine, vitamin, etc., then you're not really getting the full benefit of them if you don't keep water consumption high. It's not just creatine that requires alot of extra water. It's your general health that depends on it and is optimized by drinking plenty of water.
 
Don't forget that most bodybuilder are underhydrated at the cellular level, where growth takes place. Typically 8-glass levels are for the inactive 154 pound male. Bodybuilders who are bigger and more active required 12 glasses daily and more.
