Yesterday ... I reached a higher state of being.

High rep leg workout, finished off heavy hams, nicely pumped, headed into the squat rack. Pounded out 23 reps in first set, 2 more than last time. Pretty intense.

Then went for my second set. Squeezed out 16, one more than last time. Thought it was my limit. The last 6 were breathing reps. I was pretty wasted.

Third set: breathing reps started at around 8. Gritted my teeth and pushed - each rep coming up fairly smoothly. I hit 15, wanted to push past what I did last time, did 16, could barely stand, sweat pouring off me, into my eyes, breathing like a freight train, legs trembling, thinking of racking it, then ... SOMETHING took over my body, and I just kept on going, and going, and going - my body was just moving, like a machine. Indescribable! I was totally unaware of anything except breathe, tense, flex, down, push, up. I think I got up to 23 or so this way, then suddenly I noticed my face had gone chalk white and my lips looked a bit funny - so I racked it and just hung on for while, waiting for the white noise to ebb ...

Words cannot describe ...

This happened to me once or twice on the leg press, and with some lower rep forced squats, but this was ... different.

There are no limits. Each day in the iron game is so new. I just had to share this here. No-one I know could have the faintest clue ...

if you wanna feel even worse, try doing some eccentric squats.

at the norwegian sport school they have built a machine they call "the hell machine". it is designed so that you rack weights on two seperat bars, and when you squat all the way down, one bar gets released, so that you can push up with a lighter weight. as you reach the top, the bar attatches itself again, and you squat down with the added weight. shit is crazy, and the pain is insane. you can do it with every possible exercise if you have a couple of spotters.

Cool, 3V - imagine if you'd been there to SEE it :)

MrMuscle - that hell machine sounds like the heaven machine to me - I swear on some leg days I reach a point where I barely know where I am, and the feeling afterwards is better than any possible high. Last Saturday, though, topped everything that's gone before. Somehow, though, sadly, I'm not sure this is a state one can achieve often. I think there needs to be a whole alignment of factors for it to come through so pure and perfect.

Oh, but when it does ....
