Gun Owners, Check The 'Grade' The NRA Gave Your Congressmen

So it's OK for you to make generalizations because the majority of democrats are anti-gun, but not OK for the other guy to?

he was implying it was nothing more than some biased, anti-democrat propaganda.

You avoided my actual question. I never said it wasn't your "god damn right" to own guns. I think it's a bit of a stretch to take something written hundreds of years ago and expect it to apply to every type of gun created after that.
Is it also your right to own a nuclear warhead? WMD? Yes, it's a stretch but so is a Howitzer.

actually, real shooters, those who've been in the game for a while would almost never use the auto mode on their riffle/SMG. It's far less accurate and handling is a pain compared to semi-auto. Most SWATs here usually keep their SMG on either semi-auto or 3 rounds burst, rarely on auto.

manny,

since you are a LEO, can you own any type of firearm?

Well except for the service weapon, you need a license like any other citizen. So yes I can cause I have that license. But so does anybody else.

What exactly is it about gun control that gun owners don't like? I don't care if somebody has 100 guns in his closet. I don't see why someone needs automatic weapons or what the resistance to a waiting period is.
And give me something besides the "what if a criminal steals my registered gun and commits a crime" thing.

What do you mean by "automatic weapons"? If you mean fully-automatic, then you are mistaken. Full-auto weapons have nothing to do with the 1994 "Assault weapons ban". The amount of hoops one has to jump through to obtain a legal full-auto in the U.S. is so ridiculous that very few have the money or patience to actually do it.

Just to clear this up, are you saying that any semi-automatic weapon should be made illegal?

I'm not saying anything. I'm asking two simple questions.
What exactly is it about gun control that gun owners don't like?
what the resistance to a waiting period is?

Even though the waiting period is annoying to gun owners, it is the least of our worries as far as gun control is concerned. What pisses gun owners off is when politicians begin banning certain types of firearms, which they conveniently dub "assault weapons" and also try to castrate our magazines by banning 30 round mags, etc. Another major issue is concealed carry. Many states do not allow it, even though a citizen who goes through the trouble of obtaining a carry license is not at all predisposed to commit more crimes with the license than without it.

I don't understand your question about why gun owners dislike gun control. The laws that politicians (for example in California) call "sensible gun laws" are useless in preventing crime, and only serve to handicap a citizen's rights.

I don't see why someone needs automatic weapons or what the resistance to a waiting period is.

Why do I own a car that can do 110Mph if the speed limit is 65? Why would you buy a motorcycle that can do 140? If I want to spray clips at the range who should tell me I can’t? Both the fast car and the full auto are not a necessity but neither will harm anyone if used properly. I have fired full auto and it IS a waste of ammo but who am I to tell the guy next to me that it is wrong?

The resistance to the waiting period is simple. I walk in to buy a gun and I should get that gun when I want to purchase it. The waiting period is interpreted as an opportunity for big brother to say “no” and it implies that you are getting “permission” to get that gun.
