Full Body Training with a sick twist

Got a wee mental idea that i have been toying with the last few days and i've kind of played about with it for the last two days. I can technically only do a few exercises due to only having dumbbells and limited weight that most of the lads on this would piss themselfs at. Basically it's not full body yet but you will see what i'm trying to get at. I focus heavily on only doing one, thats wright that wasn't a typo, one set of each exercise and just now i only do one exercise per bodypart.
So the routine looks like this for the time being...all performed with dumbbells mind.

Shoulder press 1x8
Dumbbell row 1x8
Standing tricep extention 1x8
Dumbbell curl 1x8

Once i reach the rep goal i put the dumbbells down and rest for 15 seconds and knock out a couple more reps put the 'bells back down for 10 more seconds then try a rep or two more, going for complete failure or as close to it.
Because the volume is so little i really do try to put as much time into each and every rep, its a quick possitive but controlled then i'll hold the static for 3 seconds and the negative will take me between 4-5 seconds. I can really feel the muscle being pulled on the way down, it's a fucking rush but like everything else a good thing can turn bad at any time.
I'd like to hear what you guys think of this little number all comments are welcome both possitive and negative.

Cheers in advance

Sounds like a nice way to get gains when you've got a limited selection of weights. I like to throw in routines like this once every two years or so to get away from the standard 3x6 - 3x10 workouts. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe doing every other workout to failure, and doing standard workouts in between just to prevent overtraining.

The problem with me george is i get lost very easy, my mind tells me most of the time that what i'm doing is utter balls and a waste of time, i can't afford to train anywhere i am completly out of my element, one minute i'm all for high volume, then it's low volume, then splits, maybe my mind says full body. It's a very hard thing to just say ignore what my head is telling me and pay attention to the results problem is i can't accept anything i'm earning it's like i'm sick or something, i love this lifestyle it's the only thing i have but i feel it's costing me too much time, espesially when you keep arguing with yourself wether i follow Arnolds path or dorian yates, i can't do this stuff on my own i like having a blueprint i can jump into, this little routine i have going was great for 3 days but when i started yesterday moring again, i felt pulled apart and nothing clicked i just didn't connect mentally. Sorry to have went on mate but i feel like the most unluckiest person in this sport right now, i feel like i am constantly arguing with my own entity, see i love guys like the ultimate warrior with that fuckin raw and brutal intensity, i want that, i want people to see how angry yet focused on every rep of every set, but yet it's just this fat pathetic waste of air staring back at me, thats what i was trying to do with this wee system i had going at home. However i feel like now i've came of my horse and the bastard has left me for dead!!!!!

It definitely sounds like you have the overall dedication to bodybuilding, but you're just lost on the path to follow. Honestly you don't have to follow one person's path, though, you can just make your own. If that means following Arnold's plan for a while, then doing what you were just doing, then switching to another routine...whatever is helping you make long-term gains. Just try to take each day individually and get psyched up for that workout - don't worry about the next day's training.

You also say that "this lifestyle it's the only thing i have." Perhaps you need to focus on your overall life pursuits too so that bodybuilding becomes more of a side reward each day. When you're focused on other life goals, you won't put so much pressure on yourself when it comes to bodybuilding and you'll just enjoy it more. Anyways, that's just some thoughts I have after reading what you wrote.

Thanks man, geuss i was having a bad day, i can see what your saying lad and it helps me alot to know there are guys like yourself who are willing to give us the talk and insperation straight up with no bullshittin' i like that and i'll take it on board

Hey heavyduty, glad to see that it was just a bad day and you're pumped up about making gains again. Keep us updated on how it's going.

All about these back up plan workouts to work in when time it short or something un expected comes up. For example today I was running late and had my workout time cut to 30 mins and was able to make it work. Keep it going!

I've met a couple of people who do nothing but calisthenics and body weight exercises and they were beasts. But they also worked very hard at it and were very committed. It's not what you do, but how you do it.

Thanks for your help guys very greatful for any info that can give me just a little bit more influence, i think i just hit a brick wall and didn't know where to go, this has been a fantastic forum to be part of every member so far has been amazing
