Fiber counting towards carb intake

say you eat something and it has 35 carbs and 3g of fiber..it doesnt equal 38. Besides fiberous carbs(slow carbs) are the type of carbs you want to be eating. The fiber will help flush your body out.
 
As far as fiber in carbs is concerned, since it can't be digested it shouldn't be counted as far as energy requirements are concerned. If your diet is extremely high in fiber it can actually hinder energy intake; Which is why a high fiber diet is recommended for the obese. Here is a link to learn more about fiber and weight loss.

Do not count fiber for your total carb intake. A label will say, for example, 20g total carbs, 5g fiber --> 15g is your total. Fiber will not be converted to glucose for use in the body. Depending on what kind of fiber it is (soluble or insoluble) it will help with bowel movement or help maintain pH in your body.
