Ever NOT hit on someone because ...

... they eat junk food and smoke and don't exercise, but nonetheless are really really cute and smart and funny and interesting?

LOL -- no I have never hit on anyone as I am a big chicken. However, if you did ask the person out, I am sure it would bother you down the road if a relationship ensued. For you -- it may signal something deeper ...... however, you should give it a try. Perhaps this person has never been introduced to this lifestyle in a way that has been motivational and supportive.

If this person is cute, smart, funny and interesting -- there are SOOO very few of those out there!!! I say put blinders on for now and take a risk....worse case scenario, it does not work out but at least you have developed a friendship.

when i was single, i wasn't really into being healthy, i was probably the person who actually had all the bad habits you describe. those kinds of things people can change about themselves, so i would go for it. something i've noticed about people is that being around healthy fit people tends to bring out the same desires. fitness is contagious, take a chance, they may like what they see in you!!! :)

The problem is they may have a hard time accepting your lifestyle because it makes them feel guilty about their lifestyle. I dated a guy who smoked, drank a lot, ate pizza a couple times/week, and my lifestyle seemed to make him want to sink me to his level. He would start pressuring me loosen up a little - have a drink, a piece of pizza - what's that going to hurt? When you're in contest mode, these are the type of people you should avoid. :-)

I say go for it because I use to be "the cute, smart, funny & interesting chic" who wasn't concerned with going to the gym or eating healthy. But a year ago, I met my boyfriend and he is a gym junkie and a health fanatic... and that encouraged me to go. All I really needed was a little motivation!!! Now I love going to the gym and cooking healthy. It is great!!! I am so glad that we met and I saw the light!!! :D

Naw - "smart, funny & interesting" is too hard to find.

Fawn

WORD....

However, I don't find people that ARE smart, funny and interesting because of things like that. Maybe it is just me, but I could NEVER be attracted to someone who smoked. As for the eating and drinking thing, that is no biggie unless they had a problem. "Normal" is cool.

How about the flip side? I was recently solicited by a guy that perhaps some of you might have interesting. He was attractive, nice career, funny, seemed like a nice guy but then he said that he went to the gym 6/7 days p/week and wanted to run a marathon I was INSTANTLY turned off.

Though I still care about my health and personal appearance, I am no longer worried about things like contest prep or being the queen of lean so someone who was THAT into it just scared me off.

If the person has enough good qualities that they're peaking your interest, it's worth a shot. They may just need a little motivation and someone that cares enough about them to help them get on the right track. If it doesn't work out, then at least you've tried, but you'll never know and possibly always wonder "what if" about that person if you never give them the opportunity to be a part of your life.

Steel, just like you're helping the kids overcome drug abuse, you may be able to make a huge change in this persons life. But let it be known early on that your lifestyle is very important to you and you will not be dragged down into theirs. Good luck!

Smoking REALLY turns me off...a lot.

The girl that I am seeing now HATES the gym...completely...but she loves what I do when I train/compete. She was also the All European Tae Kwon Do champion 2 years in a row and the runner up one year. Also, she played Pro Soccer for Hungary a couple of years ago too...
