Ever NOT hit on someone because ...

Smoking really bothers me. My roommates smoke, and it sucks. My lungs feel like shit, my clothes smell, and the place is a mess. because of all the dust from the smoke. Smoking is disgusting, I hate it.

I would say don't get involved with someone with the hope that you're going to change them - smoking is a bigtime habit. Going to the gym is a different thing though, because as long as the person is open u can always get them to be your lifting buddy. Its easy to get people into working out, but not easy to get anyone to diet or eat clean and especially to quit smoking.

alot of guys are smart, funny & interesting... so if they can smoke/ eat crap/ not exercise & still be "cute"... then Im all over it.

(& how much do they make.. btw).. ;)

Will wonders never cease? Is there anything your girl CAN'T DO?! LOL

So then, she must have learned Magyar?

Ask her this:

Aruld el.... Meleg csokokat ad a sraccod?

(I apologize for the missing accents. I now have to fight the girls for computer time and they lost my key!)

But ask her... :D

I hate smoking too - typical ex-smoker - radically anti-smoking. She IS apparently trying to quit, so that's a good sign - but I know how long it took me to really quit. The junk food I can probably handle - I don't find it palatable anyway, so temptation isn't an issue, and most of it is meat-based (which is sort of an issue, but whatever). Naturally I worry about the health effects I imagine for her every time we eat together ....

I'm not looking for a relationship necessarily - well, if fact, I'm not - I'm too busy with school - having to deal with physics, chem and maths after a 12-year hiatus and not having done science all the way through high school, well ...... I'm kinda busy. On the other hand, though, I'm kinda picky, so meeting someone I'm this charmed with isn't an everyday thing. AND - she's helping me with my maths, physics and chem :)

I have no intention of trying to change anyone - just wondering how people generally go into relationships - I mean, I know each one's different, some just happen, etc - but has anyone here actually decided consciously not to pursue someone they really like based on lifestyle factors? You know beforehand that it simply wouldn't work? It's kind of a hard call.

Sigh. Perhaps I'll wait for her to come to me, then decide. She surely will, sooner or later, and in the meantime, I can deal with catching up simple arithmetic. Fractions: my new friends.

I have to admit - lifestyle is a big factor for me. Of course, I'm also actively competing, so I prefer to stick around people who are sympathetic to my cause. Unfortunately, not many people understand the mierda you have to go through to get competition lean. It's all about understanding, though - if she understands your lifestyle and makes no attempt to change it, then go for it. I have a feeling your healthy habits will rub off on her.

My ex-wife smoked when I met her. She had a dynamic personality and was very beautiful and sweet way back then. She said that she would quit smoking. 10 years later after our marriage broke up, she said that she resented me because she felt like she had to smoke behind my back because she knew I hated it. It is a very addictive habit and extremely hard to break. I wouldn't get involved with someone thinking you can get them to stop smoking.

I would carry that one step further and state not to get involved with someone thinking that you can get them to change anything about themselves....wanting that is a lose/lose proposition

She told me not long ago (after looking at a 'certain persons' website) that Hungarian women were the most beautiful women in the world.

Also...she used to smoke. I saw her take one pull off of one cigarette...once. Went from 4 packs a day...to not even a drag (and hating cigarette smoke by the way).
