Dips for tris & chest question

Hello everybody! I have a 2 part question or maybe just 2 questions.
When you do dips for the tris on the gravitron, do you place the handles on the side in or out to hit the tris? And then when you use the same machine to work the chest and your dipping down, do you place the handles in or out? I'm just not exactly sure about hand placement for these two exercises and would like some feedback. Thx!

If by "in" or "out" on the handles you mean where you can flip the curved bar so its closer to your sides or further away? I'm thinking on that you just place them how it fits you. If you are a 250 lb guy, the close in setting may not fit.

Tri dip -- your body is more straight up & down so you are actually isolating your tricep - imagine similar to a bench dip.

Chest dip -- I lean forward more so I'm hitting my chest instead of the tris -- similar to doing an angled push-up.

you can always turn one in and one out for a medium range distance...

Yes, i mean the handles that flip in or out so the sides are either close or far away. I thought that for dips you would have them "in" and for chest "out." Does that make sense? Yea, i lean forward when i do the chest too Sassy. I like your thought Shadow too on varying it w/ one handle in and the other out.

regarding pec or tri involvement, my experience has been that body position seems to be the most important factor. If I lean I definitely feel it in the outer most region of the pecs next to the under arms. If I keep my torso perfectly perpindicular to the floor, I feel it only in my tris.

I wonder if moving the handles you guys mention would shift the stress to a different tri head?

for tri's look up at the ceiling directly above you, chest bow your head and look at the floor.Never seen the machine your talking about with movable handles.
