Dieting and Sodium Intake - Potassium?

My diet is 99% in check, except for the amount of sodium I take in. I typically drink about 2 gallons of water a day also. Is there any way to help reduce the impact this sodium has on my body? I eat very clean, except sometimes time is a factor, and something pre-packaged (can of turkey chili - a hyoooge amount of sodium) is all I can get rather than miss a meal.

Will adding potassium in with my supps counteract this at all? (I remember something about the sodium/potassium pump in Nutrition 101).

Thanks. K for good responses.

Yes... it should help balance out the electrolytes... I take 100mg 3 x a day...

Definitely good to keep a balance but I dont think just adding potassium will reduce water bloat (if thats what youre referring too). Potassium supplements are also pretty ineffective. you can get about 90mg which is something like 3%dv. Youre better off eating meat, fruit, and veggies as I believe the bioavailability is higher in those sources as oppossed to the supplement.

word. bloat is one thing. blood pressure is another, which is what i'm really trying to avoid. it's more about damage control when i can't prepare a good meal. thanks

I do both... works for me... :)
