diet question

Recently i have gotten into some competitions and what not. My diet at first was to maintain weight, but try to get stronger at the same time. Here it is: i have pointed out the carb/protien ratio.. fats are pretty low too..

carbs first, protien second..
meal 1: 6-7 am 1 pckg. oatmeal, with 2 scoops of whey isolate 30/50
meal 2: 9 am: bumblebee albacore steak (lemon w/cracked pepper) w/ zone bar 23/50--14 from bar, 36 from steak
meal 3- lunch (protien w/ complex carbs) chicken w/ brown rice today 30/40
meal 4- bumblebee albacore steak w/ zone bar w/ chicken of the sea cup- 23/68
meal 5- preworkout shake- 4/50
meal 6- post workout shake- 4/50
meal 7- dinner again like lunch always changes.. usually a 40/35 ratio..

totals = 154/343

Now what im trying to do, is put on some lean mass to gain a couple of pounds to help me go up in strength. So if i simply adjust the whey isolate, to a muscle milk sort of protien, will i still be able to stay lean in the midsection, by doing extra ab/cardio work and still grow with the rest of my body benefiting? I know it sounds complicated but Im trying to gain more weight upper body, and stay shredded lower body, by targeting the lower body with that extra work? I dont know if this makes sense to anybody, if not ill try to reword it better. so more cardio/abwork= assurance of leanness in that area, and extra carbs from muscle milk = mass to upper body? I dont know if itll work, so im gonna ask you guys before trying it out.. any other suggestions welcome

well im not adding that much of a surplus to my diet, just changing over protien types, and gonna target the midsection harder. Im naturally very lean, in my midsection so i dont think, i have much to be worried about. Ill let you know how it pans out for the next couple of weeks as im prepping for my next contest
