lmfao, this thread just gets better and better!

I use straps myself. I had a trainer once that would never let me use them because he wanted my forearms and grip to get stronger. I hated it. I felt so limited because I could lift so much more with straps and felt that I wasnt getting the full benefits of a heavy lift with out them. I went back to straps. I don't want popeye forearms anyhow.

yeah, i feel you drr.. but static holds and increasing grip strength will not only make it easier to deadlift, but it will increase forearm strength, too :)

bro, im not going to knock you man, but i've been training going on 12 years. I know how to lift and i know how to use straps to my advantage.

I got a feeling when you finally do your first real cycle if you ever decide to do it that you will realize the strength gains on your core exercises will be tremendous. When you start getting in the 500's 600's and 700's you might fully understand what im talking about bro.

I find it really difficult to lower my poundages on a core lift like deads just to build a very small muscle like my forearms. and my forearms are already huge, hell i got a pic posted somewhere on elite in teh archives from 2001 you can see teh size of my forearms there.

If i want to increase forearm strenght i'll target forearms with wrist curls or weighted rope roll ups. Im not going to let my entire body suffer on poundages because i can't hold a certain amount of weight comfortably

I can def tell that I need to work a bit on my grip strength... so ive been doing at least warm ups etc etc with just grip no straps... before i just strapped up for everything but the lightest light set.

Im not doing crazy weights by any means, but for instance, last night i did deads... could only get 315x 1 with no straps cuz my grip was slipping as it was... 315x6 with straps ... so obviously my grip needs to get stronger (oh and the rest of me too lol)

agree, i don't use them for lighter weights or weights i can't comfortable handle, but for heavy shrugs and deads they are a must
