Cardio training

Hello all:

I am a newbie to this forum and have to say that I have gained alot of useful training information from it. I was reading an article in MuscleMedia mag that was discussing guerilla cardio training. Essentially it was sprinting 20 seconds and then resting 10 seconds and doing this cycle over fro about 4 minutes, then cooling down with a light jog. What do you guys think? As a busy medical resident the reduced time commitment seems appealing, but I have to question the efficacy of this. Anyone have any experience?

What you're describing sounds like the definition for interval training.I've used it in the past when I needed to improve my strength endurance and cardiovascular efficiency.I usually went for about 15-20 minutes as opposed to 4 though.I've found it to be superior to "traditional" cardio for my purposes.

I usually do 20 minutes of moderate intensity cardio (more or less a warm-up) and then I follow it up immediately with an additional 10-20 minutes of intervals....

The intervals have really made a huge difference as far as I'm concerned....I highly recommend you give it a go!!

i love interval training. i use em all the time instead of the standard low intensity cardio training. i find it gives a better workout for less time. i use it when i do my favorite cardio exercise, jump roping.
