Carb Question?

goaler

New member
I'm looking for diet help, so here's the skinny or fat in my situation:
age:39 11/12ths
weight:197
ht:5' 9"
BF%-22 ish- by Tanita scale and tape/calipers
Activity: hockey goaler-4-5 hours per week-competitive (0 handicap golfer in summer, mostly walking )
50 min elliptical 3X per week (30- 40 min stretching after each session)
weights-finish all body parts every two weeks (twice a week)
would lift more, but between getting beat up from late night hockey, and cardio, stretching, life...
Self evaluation: Can gain muscle when I lift, used to be 167 lbs and same fat% 8 yrs ago., fat mostly in gut, love handles, diet-not great, and I feel like I blow up on most carbs, bad one's especially
Supps: three months on gh 2 Iu's per day
just ordered Glucorell, Sesapure, and another(sorry slipped my mind) based on a rec.

I was told to eat protein in the AM, carbs with protein at lunch and dinner, but no carbs after dinner.
Finally the question, you are saying: With this activity level (late night hockey) how many and what type of carbs are we talking about? I think I have at least 15-20 pounds of fat to lose. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sample Protein/Carb meal or two would help me.

I don't post very often, so I hope this is a legit way to ask a question here.

I really like morning/lunch carbs myself. But I am most active in the day.

I think you can eat carbs at a few of your meals. As long as you eat the right kind. Yams, Brown rice, Oats,, etc. Try to keep a 40/30/30 ratio though. Or as close as you can. Protein/carbs/fat. And since you're lifting, you will need ALTEAST 200g of protein a day. Water water water. I drink water and green tea with splenda, thats it. Although it may help you to try not to eat carbs after 7pm. Good luck man.

I guess no late night athletes here, I'll stick to trial and error. Thanks for the response Gordz.

use your glucorell and sesapure, and dont worry about your late night carb intake. Worry about your calorie intake.

often work out late and have dextrose with whey isolate afterwards, no issues with fat loss.

late night feeding is considered bad because your insulin senstivity is typically lower, though you are going to be post workout. not an issue, and any issues are offset by your use of glucorell and sesapure.

worry about the cals, not the carbs.

Macro, thanks, that answers all my questions, along with Ulter from last week. I ordered the glucc/ses, and cardio breeze last week(Ulter's rec.) and it should arrive today. I've already lost 3-4 lbs(in a week, some water I'm sure) from my change in diet, so I can't wait to try the supps, and tweak the eating for even better results. Doing the 5x5, playing hockey and now eating correctly. With those supps, I can't wait to see what I can do. Thanks again Ulter, Macro and others. I appreciate it.
