Assume a person with a 3300 calorie a day metabolism not including cardio, does this.
Day 1 & 2: 2300 calories, 1200 calories in cardio
Day 3: 3300 calories, no cardio
Day 4 & 5: 2300 calories, 1200 calories in cardio
Day 6: 4000 calories, no cardio
And repeat that 6 day pattern? Will the metabolic rate go up or down? on one hand it seems like it would stay high (metabolic needs are met every 3 days) but at the same time it seems like on the dieting days the metabolic rate will slow to maybe 2300 a day and on the refeed days it will just store the extra 1000-1700 calories for energy for the next 2 days afterwards.
What is the science behind calorie shifting (or whatever its called) and its effect on metabolism.
